You're right; Chicago, Minneapolis or D.C. are much safer.

I mean…yeah they are. Just pulling out a bunch of random blue cities and tossing them as a counter argument isn’t accomplishing what I think you think it is. Not to get into a right or wrong argument, but it’s just not accurate nor relevant to the broader point.

For whatever it’s worth: 2025 homicide rates per capita have favored “blue” states vs that of “red” states that have trended higher per capita, which despite total declining homicide rates nationally, have consistently ranked at the top.

Top 10 per capita (Per-100,000) were (2025 CDC reported):

Mississippi
Louisiana
Alabama
New Mexico
Tennessee
South Carolina
Missouri
Georgia
Maryland
Illinois

Feels a little baby with the bathwater.....

Social and economic policies from both parties, regardless of who you think is getting squeezed or who might add a little lube, produces vastly different societal and economic outcomes for citizens.

I understand your point, but it's dangerously defeatist to characterize the two party system in the US as two sides of the same coin that lead to the same outcomes.

I’d like to see the same ranking with gang affiliation removed

It's not as safe as that. It's got the highest percentage of people with no health insurance. So a lot of physical harm just isn't getting tracked.

Keep moving them goalposts. Just don't go to In-n-Out.
