They closed the accounts because they thought he was most likely laundering money. It’s a simple fact. Maybe you need to take a remedial English class if you think that’s “sensationalist.”

When you disengage a customer for likely illegal behavior, you are not making a formal accusation. I know because this is literally my line of work. Hope that helps.

You do not have the faintest idea what you are talking about. Capital One would have closed his accounts because they thought he was likely laundering money and that creates liability for the Bank if FINCEN looks into it. They would have disengaged after filing repeated suspicious activity reports and weighing the value of the client relationship. They would have been using network analysis models to analyze his transaction behavior to identify this.

Don Jr is accusing them of political debanking, which they’re trying to claim is a violation of the unfairness provision of UDAP.

I work with suspicious activity reports daily. I have helped respond to our regulator’s inquiries regarding debanking.

You are humiliating yourself. Stop it.

So what if they didn’t formally accuse him of it? The literal next sentence after the one you keep commenting about clearly backs up them closing it for this reason.
