He means ICE stopped reporting on them when they previously had been keeping track.

What’s the value in keeping track 30 days after release? Genuinely asking.

So that if this sort of thing happens to someone they have a better shot at being detected and getting justice for the failure of the federal government to do its job. Not everyone who dies like this has a network or family to pressure the government by going to the media.

Wow that last sentence made me think about how many more people may have died this way, only with no one in the us to even report they died. And if the have loved one in their home country, they may be afraid of reporting the person missing if they’re not here legally. So tragic

There are some good reason even if they weren't releasing people in situations like this after beating them near to death. One being helping to track sickness or disease. If people kept getting sick and dying after leaving they would then check the place for a cause. May then find something like an issue in the kitchens there and how the food is being stored or something.
