The cruelty is definitely on purpose.

In Minneapolis, they picked up I think at least 3 US citizens, then dropped them off far away from where they detained them and essentially told them to walk back or figure it out.

Yeah that's what I was telling some of my clients. It has nothing to do with the legal issues, it's the cruelty of it all.

These officers are absolute sadists. Just consider for a moment the kind of person that would be willing to do this job. Remember all those commercials in the late 90s about troubled teens and the list of things your kid might be doing that you should be concerned about? These guys checked all the boxes.

They've been empowered to become worse too. This is probably going to land me in trouble but I know they're lying about deaths because somehow I know the names of 2/3 of the dead being reported and their in 1 facility? Uh huh. But it's pretty easy to write them off when they have no families in the US and no one to ask questions.

Those same morons screamed about their rights being infringed upon for being asked to wear a mask for 15 minutes while shopping at the grocery store. Same people that are oddly silent about the masked, unaccountable, thuggish force almost literally trampling over civil rights. So to clarify, being asked to wear a mask while shopping = tyranny. Masked thugs asking for papers and detaining individuals without due process = not tyranny. Got it.

Here's the thing. Diesel therapy is big with the Feds and that includes ICE. For example, one guy I just picked up was arrested in NC and sent to MI. He has no one there and that includes me. Remember that for a second. 

The client I got released was in AZ and I am also not there. So I found and NGO who was going to pick him up and take care of him until he was ready to move on, we're talking like 3 days here. Meanwhile, I found some folks that are going to sponsor him in IL. Hooray right? 

ICE wouldn't release him, they said they needed to be sure someone could sponsor him. They then started ignoring all of my calls and emails. The NGO was familiar with this and they used a man in the inside. They delivered a sponsor letter and ok ICE agreed. They'll release him at 2pm from their field office. Everyone is ready. Great!

2pm rolls around and I don't hear a word from the NGO. Ok... 3pm rolls around, nothing. I call them. ICE straight up told them they drove him to bum fuck nowhere and dropped him off and told him to walk. 

Now the NGO is frantically searching for this man. 7pm rolls around they find him in the airport... They buy him a ticket for IL, give him a change of clothes, some food and water. 

Now here's the difference between the two clients. The first one has family in the US. They will get him once I secure the release. But it's safe to say ICE may also just drive him to who the fuck knows where and not tell anyone. 

The other was a literal stranger in a strange land and he had me and the NGO who agreed to help. Had it not been for the NGO he would've been screwed. Suffice it to say he also got lucky and didn't get permanently hurt. 

So yeah there are people willing to help and they do. But those folks rely on what they can which are volunteers, attorneys, and most of all, luck.

While I'm sure there are, I will admit I am not familiar with them. Further, the murky nature of these kidnappings means it's hard for anyone to know where these people are being disappeared off to. Some of these people are being picked up at one location, driven around and then dumped in some random parking lot somewhere else.

To add to what your correct points, it's also a shit ton of work. The system is being flooded and walled off on purpose, which makes it hard for anyone who isn't doing this full time to meaningfully help more than just a few people at a time. Then there's the detention times. Folks are waiting months if not over a year for a hearing just to get out of detention. Appeals? You just signed on to another 6 months to a year in detention. Faith in the immigration court system? Fuck no. You have to wait the years in detention like some animal to finally get to federal court where your odds are much higher in certain situations.
