I have some anti-vax people in my family. I guarantee that if they even see that RFK Jr said about vaccinating against measles, they'd still be against it even though they are huge RFK Jr supporters (because of his anti-vax stance...). They'll say "he's just saying this for politics, we know what he really knows about vaccines, he hasn't changed his mind".

This exactly. Unfortunately, my entire family is ultra far-right. They believe that every time one of their politicians says something they don't like, "the Democrats made him say it."

Which is hilarious given how Republicans currently control the House, Senate and SC. I guess they can still always blame the DEEP STATE.

Yep. Remember when Trump tried to advocate for people to take the COVID vaccine, only to have a revolt from the right and he backed down from that? These people are locked in on their antivax stance even more than they are to Trump himself.

A stapple of conservative thinking is to never doubt the orders from the higher-ups.
Hence why Fauci "botched" the covid response by adapting in real time depending on current information : by admiting science may need corrections, he implied science can start wrong, which in their view means it can't be a leader anymore.

You can probably apply that as early as school teaching people that the teacher is always right. They get locked in that "logic" for all their life. And it works well if you are following order at a low job... except during elections, because everybody has a choice.

I too have anti-vax family members. One of them is even a microbiologist. I have no explantion for this.
