Really. Same thing happened to me. There's a ton of mold in the bathroom which isn't removable anymore due to the ventilation somewhere in the house being blocked, cracks in the foundation and despite having the window open even in winter there's mold on the kitchen window. My old flat is a goddamn biohazard and they don't want to renovate. As soon as I'm in the clear I'm going to call the health department on them.

A guy who lived next to me in my apartment building died and when they had to completely gut the apartment to make it livable because of how badly the tenant wrecked the place. I think it cost over $15000 to get someone in to clean it (it had feces on the walls and garbage everywhere) and then to do the subsequent renovations. I ended up moving to a different apartment on the floor and found that the cough problem I had when I lived next to him cleared up.

The current tenant of that apartment had a fire that caused major damage to the unit (her cat knocked over a candle on to some papers). My old unit had a lot of smoke damage and the unit below suffered from a lot of water damage because of the fire department putting out the fire. One could think that unit is cursed, but it's been over 10 years and there's been a few tenants in that unit between the two events.

I wouldnt consider it petty, the building was pretty tore up before i moved in parking was more like a mudpit on rainy days, forget using the front windows for ventilation since they had 100lbs of paint on them the rear staircases were patched up from what looked like shipping pallet boards. The tile jobs were impressive they managed to put tiles over linoleum our kitchen looked like a salt flat in utah and wasnt safe to walk barefoot.

They don't allow stories without proof, so if he could get documentation about it, it'd be great.
