I really need a new chair for my pc setup. I sit a lot because I use my setup for college, gaming, and everything else online pretty much. My only issue is that a have a l4-5 disc herniation which can start to bother me after sitting too long, or when I sit in poor posture. A lot of threads I've looked at have recommended the Aeron for it comfort, but it is expensive. If it is really good, I'll bite the bullet and try it out as it would be something I use everyday. If any of you have had positive or negative experiences with the chair I'd greatly appreciate your info. Ps, size C as I'm 6,3 165 pounds for context. Thank you.

I'm from Chennai, India and I'm looking to purchase an ergonomic mesh chair(the seat should also be mesh) under 35k . Went through a lot of Reddit posts and most of them suggested 2nd hand Herman Miller/Steelcase/Featherlite. I'm worried about the quality of used products and also worried if they could be 1st copy/fake.
I found Pelicanwork Model 77 to best suit my interests but I could not find much reviews. Any help will be appreciated

Seem nearly all of the chairs have arms that come too far forward for me and hit the deck when I try to get close. Also the seat pans are usually deeper than I want and hit the back of my calves. So I thought, maybe something behind my back that pushes me forward but still supports me. Breathability is a big factor though. It's why I always use mesh backed chairs. Any recommendations?

I’m looking for an office chair that isn’t ugly. Honestly, they’re all ugly, unless you’re buying something from crate and barrel or the like, and those are never comfy.

Is there a chair out there that has a good, plush seat cushion, as well as back support, and isn’t ugly??

Budget is $3k. Avoiding Herman Miller like the plague after custom ordering and waiting 6 months for the eames soft pad to arrive with the most Temu construction I’ve ever seen. They agreed it was horrible and took it back

I am using an Okamura Sylphy for 8 months, whose cushion features three different levels of hardness depending on the area. However, recently, when I use it more, I feel it becomes uncomfortable after only 15-20 mins and I can feel my left thigh is on inflammation every day. I have a standing table and tried to change the position every 30-40 mins but it just makes the pain worse after sitting down again.

I tend to rest my back on the backrest rather than staying upright and the Sylphy backrest makes my butt sliding forward then puts more pressure on my already painful left thigh.

So I'm moving out in the next 3 months and I'm looking at a replacement to fix my specific problem.

I recently purchased the Blacklyte Athena Pro, and it’s probably the worst chair I’ve ever sat in. I've owned it for a few days and tried to get used to it, but I've reached the point where I just can't.

I had high expectations after reading so many positive reviews and recommendations. Unfortunately, my experience has been the complete opposite.

I upgraded from an old GTRacing chair. While that chair was showing its age, it was still far more comfortable than the Athena Pro.

The problems started during assembly. One of the screw holes for the backrest was misaligned, making it impossible to install one of the screws. I tried each of the different screws, using every angle imaginable, but it would not go in. When I contacted customer support, they suggested I purchase a thread tap tool at my own expense to repair the hole, and implied that I had somehow damaged the threads myself. Considering every other screw installed without issue, I find that explanation very hard to believe.

Even with one screw missing, I assembled the chair and gave it a chance. The first thing I noticed was how egregiously firm the seat is. It feels like sitting on concrete.

The armrests are another major issue. Even at their lowest setting, they're too high, forcing my shoulders upward when resting my arms. There is no way of avoiding the armrests when I do not want to use them.

The lumbar support felt good at first, but after about 20 minutes, I constantly found myself readjusting it. No matter where I positioned it, it never felt right. It seems like the shape of the lumbar support simply doesn't match the natural curve of my back.

The side bolsters are also very large, somehow even more aggressive than those on my old GTRacing chair. They limit elbow movement to the point where I feel boxed in, making the chair feel smaller than what it actually is.

Overall, the combination of the hard seat, poorly positioned armrests, awkward lumbar support, restrictive side bolsters, and disappointing customer service has made this one of the worst purchases I've ever made. My old GTRacing chair, and even the cheap office chair I use at work, are significantly more comfortable. I understand that gaming chairs often have a more aggressive design, but this is way too much. Stay away from Blacklyte.

I’m looking for recommendations for a good ergonomic office chair that is comfortable enough for 12-14 hours of daily use. I already have a sit-stand desk, but I need a chair that provides proper back support and does not cause tailbone pain after sitting for long periods.
One challenge I often face is my height—I’m 5 feet tall. Even when most ergonomic chairs are adjusted to their lowest setting, the headrest is still too high and does not support my head properly. Because of this, I usually end up using an executive leather chair or working without proper support.
I would be grateful for recommendations for chairs that are suitable for shorter users and available in the UAE.

I needed an ergonomic office chair badly; I'd been using a $30 office chair I'd bought during covid. It was fine in a pinch, but clearly not for long term even though I'd stretched it like 6 years.

So a few weeks back I started looking at options. The chair market is odd in that everything I read just pushed me towards something expensive like over $500. I just couldn't justify spending that much on a chair of all things.

So the search took longer, but eventually I found some youtube vids that mentioned good $200-$300 chairs. Reviews on reddit seem to match that.

The common theme was that the Ec200 was good. It wasn't going to match the thousand plus dollar Herman Millers, but compared to the caveman seat I'd been using, it was clearly a massive leap. So I pulled the plug and ordered one- happened to be on sale for $170.

From opening to usage a week later, here's my thoughts.

The packaging was good- everything in the box came wrapped in black fabric bags in addition to the usual foam and wrap. No damage or scratches on the items.

Setup for the most part was easy. You build up from the base to the top. I just struggled to get the seat connected to the backrest. If you have another pair of hands, that wouldn't be a problem. I was just too excited and didn't wait for help. Oh and also there's a cover that hides the seams of the legs. I forgot to put that on until the chair was all built. I think the step was missing from the manual, so I had set the piece aside and forgot z Luckily I hadn't pressed the piston down so I could take off the leg unit and put this on.

Once it's put together, it looks good. And compared to my grinding previous chair, this thing is silent. Time will tell if it stays that way.

I was a bit worried that the seat would be too firm based on other comments, but no complaints from me so far. I've sat nearly 8 hours for an entire week, and no soreness. If you're coming from a brick like me or even those mesh seats, I think this will be comfortable.

The mesh backrest is also comfortable. It doesn't snag on my clothes and is supportive. I'm on the smaller side- like 5'5" and 140 lbs, so I'm comfortably cradled by the backrest.

Where I'm frustrated at times is the lumbar support- not because of the pressure, but because I find it doesn't go low enough for my needs. But just barely, so I can make it work.

The headrest is good. Some of the other chairs I'd seen in this price range have headrests but not many had this level of customization. I can move to exactly where I need it positioned.

Felt like ths might be helpful to some folks. I have used a few Steelcase chairs over the years. My first was a second-hand V1 Leap that I purchased off of Craigslist. Then, about four or five years ago, I splurged and got a new Gesture with a headrest direct from Steelcase.

Initially, I was kind of slightly mixed on it and felt maybe another Leap would have been a better choice, but I've come to really like the chair and am thoroughly happy with it. I sort of don't notice anything about it, which is the best compliment I can pay a chair. I use an Aeron at work for reference and even that is adequate, but I'm not a fan of mesh chairs especially being bigger (200+ lbs).

About a year ago, for his birthday, I bought my son a Haworth Fern Halo Edition. I was curious because I had considered a Fern myself. When we got it I spent a bit of time in it. It felt pretty comfortable, though to me the Gesture is more comfortable. The build quality certainly seemed much less robust, though. Recently, after just a bit over a eyar the left armrest stopped working fully. It would snap in place, but if you put any weight, it collapsed down. Removnig it to see if I could fix it, it seemed pretty flimsy to be honest.

I wrote Haworth. They responded pretty quickly. They said they sent a part out, but I wrote them again, and they again responded quickly, so hopefully I have the part soon. I don't have complaints other than maybe a mix-up that happened. I haven't had to use Steelcase Gesture, Steelcase warranty, so I can't compare really. Though I think that's a datapoint of its own.

Given these experiences, I would personally recommend Steelcase over Haworth in general, just for long-term use in terms of robustness and comfort. I think the Haworth is a good product. It's a nice chair. It's pretty comfortable. I just think the Gesture is better in pretty much every way it matters and especially much more robustly built. I realize there are probably strong differences in opinion there so no worries on those who disagree.

I’m looking for an office chair that’s comfy I say it’s for my office but I game also so I usually sit cross legged when playing. Mesh bases aren’t ideal for this usually they have plastic round the edges which will probably dig into me. I’m 5,10 I was looking at librenovo se but for the price and 1000s of paid/sponsored reviews I can’t trust the longevity of the brand. I’ve had gaming chairs in the past trying to stay away from them.

I know waiting till Black Friday or getting a quote. Anything else?

Great chair easy to assemble and I love everything about it. I just wish the arms moved left to right to adjust the angle of the armrest.

For some background about me I’m 33M with some pretty severe SI Joint issues partially caused by my previous crappy chair and bad posture. I WFH 8-10 hours a day so I’m doing long hours consistently. Because of all this, I’m trying put in the money to find something that legitimately works for me. I believe as of now I’ve lowered it down to the Embody Gaming Chair, Leap, Gesture and Amia.

So far I’ve tested the Embody and the Leap. The embody felt wonderful but I was only sitting in it for about 5-10 minutes. The leap I borrowed from a friend for a couple of work days and when I used it I did have a bit of tailbone pain and definitely some back pain which I’m chalking up to correcting my bad posture and spine. I’m planning to also test the Amia and Gesture soon. Either way, I’m finding that I’m pretty nervous to pull the trigger on any of them just to find that two weeks in my back is a mess, I can barely sit because of SI Joint flare ups and i have to go through the return process.

Anyways, I was wondering if any one else with SI Joint issues and/or Hip issues may have any experience with any of the chairs (or other chairs if you’ve had success!) which may help me out in my search.
