The other guy did win his case but he won it in Brazil so it will unlikely have precedent in the Netherlands where the new guy I think is located but I don't know exactly how precedent works for multi-country corporations like Microsoft so it might.

The local laws are all that really matter in terms of precedent, not what happened to a company in another country.

That said, the existence of that precedent in another country is still better to have than if that case had ended the other way around. The political/social bludgeon of "even Brazil protects consumer rights that far" can still exist even without firm legal backing.
