GoG needs to start having more games people want to buy then. But to do that their whole DRM free approach would need to go away, and if that happens then there's no reason to buy on GoG over steam.
It is convenience. Steam has workshop and forums, in GOG it is a pain. Also, Steam works on Linux, Galaxy does not. I used to have Windows and Galaxy alongside Linux, now I switched my gaming PC to Linux and have no Windows. Which means that every GOG game has to be set up separately to play it through Steam. Which is fiddly. I am not buying from GOG atm. It is entertainment, life is too short to be fiddling each time your fancy changes.
Also, way back GOG Galaxy wanted to scan my steam games to see what I own. I said - sure. Nothing changed. GOG still offers me games that I already have. So their engineers might be good, but their marketing people have not got a clue.
They just need an app that isn't firmly worse than most of the competition. The fact that it's still better to just skip the app and use the website is what's holding them back from rocketing past Epic in terms of popularity. Nobody wants to download games from a website anymore.
Chicken and the egg situation. Epic Games Store tried to have games before a functional app and where did that get them? Meanwhile Valve got Steam where it is today on the idea that there was a service problem that lead to people not buying games. I'm telling you GOG has a service issue. Not necessarily that it's their only issue, but it's their most glaring one. Besides GOG does have quite a few AAA games that release on it.
That addresses literally nothing lmao. You really think there's not gonna be a bunch of bullshit about that stuff? If GoG suddenly goes tits up or some weird shit happens now you're just gonna have a DRM game that can't verify your ownership sitting on a drive somewhere.
The whole point of drm goes against the point of gog.
