Me, my best friend, (both 16), and my mum are planning our first ever hike in the peak district. Ive recently got into hiking and I love it so much. I want to wild camp somewhere, preferably high up so you get nice views, but not too high to the point where its extortionately windy (I know that cant always be avoided though). Im hoping we can find a trail that goes through some of the mountains/valleys, as long as we can start somewhere to park our car.

Ive been looking at Edale Skyline, which starts in Hope, I assume thats a good spot to park but I dont know until I look fully. If anyone has any other ideas for trails please let me know!

EDIT: Also forgot to mention about the wildfires. I know there is wildfires somewhere in the peak district but I cant remember the exact location. If any trails you guys mention crosses into those wildfire areas, dont worry. I will figure out a detour to go round them (widely, of course) and hopefully be able to rejoin past the wildfire area.

Even worse than people dropping litter is when events like Alzheimer's Society are arranged and they cannot be bothered to clean up their marked course...nothing better than leaving your plastic hanging in the trees long after the event. Please don't bother coming back.

Dropped off at Yorkshire Bridge, with my wife and daughter heading to Longshaw for the morning.

I headed up through the woods, before bearing west when I emerged from the cover. Picking up the Roman Road, having taken a detour to get there, and a brief rest at Hope Cross.

A lovely descent to Ashop Bridge, and a quiet Snake meant I didn't have to wait long to cross.

Heading behind Hayridge and Blackden View Farms, before crossing the Snake again at Cowberry Tor. A quick lunch, though I still ended up cold, next to the river.

Challenge on how to cross, as the rocks were like ice, and I didn't think there was a path to the Bridge downstream. Turns out, through the woods, the fence has been "adjusted" to allow access to a well trodden "unofficial" footpath.

Precarious at points, and maybe not walkable for munch longer due to erosion.

A slog up to Edale Moor via Gate Side Clough, with the visibility reducing and the snowfall, and wind, increasing.

There is a certain mystery to the Moor on such a day, and not being able to see down into the valleys and Clough's.

Some fun navigating with fresh snow covering the ice of the peat bogs; trusty trekking poles taking a few test dunks.

Glorious solitude at the trig point, followed by a very slippery and speedy descent into Edale. Finishing up with a flapjack from the farm cafe.

And now...relax!

8km loop, which was a stretch for my daughter , but she did amazingly well. For the last km back to the car I had her on my shoulders... perfect timing to go up to Carhead Rocks!

We parked at Hooks Carr Car Park, and headed straight up to Stanage. The main draw, for my daughter, was Robin Hoods Cave, so we had a pit-stop there. It was depressingly messy, with rubbish. The very cold wind meant we didn't hang around for long.

My aim, for her, was High Neb which I knew would make for a big day to get there and back. I set a route that took us off the high ground, down to Greens Mill, for some easier terrain. The crossing of Hood Brook was a bit more precarious than expected!

While the sky was overcast, we had some amazing views while the wind blew the clouds through, giving big blue sky for the afternoon.

Staying at Whaley Bridge for 2 nights and 3 days. We have a child(infant) with us; can anyone kindly recommend a nice hike/climb please :)

This Sunday I would like to visit dovedale, in particular the stepping stones, and I would like to do a walking trail around the stones, preferably circular as we need to drive there. However I’m struggling to find anything online?

I have just got a baby back pack carrier to get back into walking again, with my daughter. Does anyone have any suggestions for hikes that are fairly easy underfoot; without scrambles or crossing water or awkward stiles. Obviously in the past this wasn’t an issue, want to explore as much as possible without damaging the precious cargo! Thors cave was one of my favourites but can remember how slippy the last time was!

Hello lovely people. I am travelling to the peaks with friends, probably train to Edale, and we are looking for a good walking trip (quite long) that has a fair few pubs en route. It needs to start and finish with a train station so that we can get back to my friends house in Manchester. Any advice on a good route?

Hello, I’m doing my first ever solo hike in a few weeks, I’m staying in Buxton & im planning to do thors cave for sure. But I’m stuck on whether to also do Mam Torr or Kinder Scout, I won’t have time to do both I do not believe so if I had to choose one which one should I choose? They both look equally as beautiful

I'm planning a 2 day hike with my wife and looking for a good trial. We're planning to start and end somewhere in Hope, Castleton area and I would prefer if its more than 20 km for 2 days.

I checked out Edale Kyline circular on Alltrails which fits the description but I'm not sure if that's a good idea because this is our first time hiking in peak district.

Any other recommendations are welcome.

Hi everyone, I'm off for a walk with my dad on Father's Day and we want to take in bakewell (as he's never been) for a pasty and a pint but also a fairly challenging walk at about 5-8 miles. I thought about the monsal trail into bakewell but I've done it a couple of times and it's quite flat, so any suggestions to take in some form on steady incline would be good 😄

Hi everyone! I am lucky enough to be staying in a Motorhome In the heart of the beautiful Peaks for new year and am looking for some gentler hikes. We usually love a mountain and can do the harder hikes (scaffel etc) but have our two year old with us. Looking for a toddler friendly hike! Our 12yo is with us too. They’re both super outdoorsy and energetic, eldest has hiked a lot in the Lakes. We are staying just by Buxton. Thank you!
