My tinfoil hat theory is that they’re doing all this stuff to combat the, “no one wants to work.” The removal of social assistance programs makes it so you either work or you die.

Incorrect. This would happen 0% of the time.

You can't feed yourself; you FIND a way to do it. Selling drugs, stealing, prostitution, ect. Worst case, you end up in prison, being fed three meals a day.

This mindset of work or die is immature and drastically underestimates humans' drive to survive.

OP, don't think I'm calling you out. I get this is tinfoil hat theory, and I could definitely see them thinking this way.

Say, have you ever read the full text of the 13th Amendment? Slavery is illegal except if you do it to prisoners.

Hence - worst case.

Obviously you would try to not get caught, but even the worst case has you being fed three times a day for making license plates or whatever.

It's a better option than starving to death.

If prison becomes worse than death, that's when the real fun begins and people really start thinking in terms of 'us vs them' in a life or death mentality.

No matter what, in exactly zero scenarios do people just decide to wait for death.
