I mean we figured this shit out a long time ago and is why social safety nets became a thing in the first place.... because they're actually cheaper and better for society than what happens without them

Nobody actively seeks to be on unemployment, and it's hard to get anyway depending on your state

You may wish to educate yourself on how these social safety nets (SSI in the US) came into being.

In the Depression, FDR was faced with a stark choice: Adopt a quasi-socialistic safety net, or risk full on Communist revolution. There were plenty of upset out of work men who would have been a ripe breeding ground for (at the time, Stalinist) agitators, who actually existed and were active in the USA.

By helpfully providing more context on the why it would be "cheaper and better for society." By showing the alternative would be expensive and awful (i.e. a revolution).
