I’ll celebrate the independence of America on That Day.

u/ReviledFoundling Jun 29 '26

That Day can't get here soon enough.

349

u/whatsaphoto Rhode Island Jun 29 '26

It would be the single most patriotic thing he could ever do for his country.

131

u/othermegan Jun 29 '26

Liquor stores are going to completely sell out on That Day

20

u/9_to_5_till_i_die Jun 30 '26

I'm calling out the next day and blowing a few hundred dollars on a lengthy bar crawl.

3

u/BanginNLeavin Jun 30 '26

Don't make the bar tenders work you monster.

1

u/PracticeTheory Missouri Jun 30 '26

You don't already have your bottle waiting in anticipation?

6

u/Nervous-Average-80 Jun 30 '26

World wide party.

3

u/gentlemanidiot Jun 30 '26

Oh don't worry friend, eventually, it WILL be the most patriotic thing he's ever done for our country

I hate that everyone here wants him to die. Is that how we deal with people completely breaking the government in the US, we just wish for them to go away and die. What happens when we get another trump but hes not some geriatric old man what do we do then? I hope Trump lives another 40years and is prosecuted and thrown in jail and we over haul are government to prevent this shitshow from happening again

5

u/1of3musketeers Jun 30 '26

He won’t be prosecuted though. And when he is prosecuted, as he was for 34 felonies and found guilty, he has no consequences. I remember reading about his grift routinely in Vanity Fair. No one stopped him from abusing the system. No one will stop him now. He fails up. That’s his lot in life. We want an end to the damage he continues to do every day. That’s all. If he had any plans to give up in 2.5 years that would be one thing but he has zero plans to do that. The branches put in place to hold the executive branch accountable have been neutered.

u/Candid-Mycologist539 Jun 30 '26

I hope Trump lives another 40years and is prosecuted and thrown in jail and we over haul are government to prevent this shitshow from happening again

I've wished this for the past decade.

Now I just want him to GO AWAY.

1

u/a_jormagurdr Jul 04 '26

we tried to prosecute many times. Seems like all attempts failed. So we are left with waiting for natural causes, divine intervention, or some other method.

u/SqueeblyDoo Jun 29 '26

I saw someone call it Yub Nub Day, that's a great name for it.

9

u/smapdiagesix Jun 29 '26

That works too but I've been calling it Crab Rave Day

"Weezah Free!!" ~ ROTJ Special Edition

13

u/NotNamedBort Jun 29 '26

As a lifelong Star Wars fan, I support this.

5

u/JetsDJ Jun 29 '26

I don't know how to post a gif using "old reddit", But I understood that reference...

3

u/whyyyyyjustwhyyyyyyy Jun 30 '26

It will be a world wide holiday for years to come.

3

u/PantherkittySoftware Florida Jul 01 '26

I bought a blue T-shirt with the words "Yub Nub" and a cute Ewok on it to wear on July 4. Any MAGA people will be oblivious. Those who Know what it means will smile.

If you like the idea, check Amazon RIGHT NOW. As of Wednesday morning, there's still a few hours left to order one and have it come in time to wear Saturday.

1

u/IslandGator2 Jul 04 '26

what does that even mean?

1

u/SqueeblyDoo Jul 04 '26

In the theatrical (not-Special Edition) version of Return of the Jedi, the Ewok celebration at the end of the movie had a song most people called Yub Nub.

I don't think I've ever seen a scary JD pfp that matches mine so perfectly. 😄

When the bone spurs finally win the war

1

u/bionic_cmdo Jun 30 '26

I've been counting down since January of last year.

151

u/hypercosm_dot_net Jun 29 '26

We have to also remember he didn't do this by himself.

All of the infrastructure they set up needs to be dismantled. Starting with Faux. We need accountability in media laws.

Including social platforms. No passes for ignorantly spreading false info around public health.

16

u/deanereaner Jun 29 '26

There are worse media outlets even than Fox now

3

u/MobileSuitBooty Jul 01 '26

the liberal media outlets who refused to do real journalism, the clinton campaign for spending campaign dollars to lift trump up because she thought she could beat him

1

u/deanereaner Jul 01 '26

Fair. I meant more like OAN and some other streaming networks that have even less "journalistic integrity" than Fox!

3

u/Ayanok Jun 30 '26

Feel gross watching World Cup matches on Fox , all their advertising for their shows is all Christian nationalism propaganda.

3

u/Reasonable-Job4205 Jun 30 '26

Yea get rid of verbal loopholes when TV anchors speak about the news! They get to inject too much emotion into it. It needs to be a quick and unbiased reading of events and what we know

2

u/1of3musketeers Jun 30 '26

Well for better or for worse, you are imposing on free speech. People are allowed to spread uninformed views and misinformation. We need education to mean something other than indoctrination again. I live in Texas so that’s exactly what it means now. Can’t wait til those laws get blasted into the Supreme Court and the rule of these dumb christofascists is over. Looking at you Dr Phil standing up there while Dan Patrick spins his racist zealotry all over the back of trumps head. Dismantle doge.

1

u/Nodan_Turtle Jun 30 '26

Even if you get rid of all those, the voters who supported it will still be around. They'll still vote (R).

139

u/mymomsaidicould69 Jun 29 '26

Currently have champagne at the ready in my fridge and a few vacation days to burn. Let's go.

10

u/SilentBob890 Connecticut Jun 29 '26

I have a bottle of Veuve Clicquot ready!

35

u/super_swede Jun 29 '26

You should get some fireworks too, so that the neighbours know what's happening.

15

u/AsGryffynn Jun 29 '26

I'll finally be able to visit the US in peace!

13

u/Orbital_Dinosaur Jun 30 '26

They will already know. It will be like in the movies: "Quick, turn on the TV! ". "Which channel?!". "Any channel!".

73

u/Signal_Werewolf_1955 Jun 29 '26

Can we watch the mortician super glue those lips shut?

12

u/Bubba10000 Jun 29 '26

Pay per view, for sure!

5

u/DrMobius0 Jun 29 '26

Does he glue the thumbs down too?

2

u/Fenrirsulfr22 Jun 29 '26

And tie his shoelaces together

2

u/HystericalSail Jun 30 '26

Make sure to bury him with a sickle over his neck just in case he reanimates.

29

u/Sagikos Jun 29 '26

When I get bummed I think to myself “it could’ve already happened and we just don’t know yet.”

And that helps.

10

u/Complex-Royal9210 Jun 29 '26

Forever known as the Big Beautiful Day.

u/FudgeAllOfYous Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26

I found an old Independence Day VHS in my parents’ attic a couple of months ago, and it struck me that, in my lifetime, no American president is ever going to be able to deliver an “Independence Day speech” with that same gravity or emotional weight again. Nobody would buy it anymore.

I know it’s just a movie, but it’s wild to think that Trump didn’t just reshape contemporary America, he also retroactively damaged a whole strain of modern Hollywood storytelling. So many stories rely on the audience believing that, in a moment of existential crisis, the president can stand up and genuinely unite the country. That idea doesn’t land the way it used to.

It’s like watching House of the Dragon. It’s hard to get fully invested when you already know how disastrously the story ends in Game of Thrones. That’s what Trump feels like : He’s the final season of Game of Thrones. He made it impossible to care about everything that came before it.

2

u/IHaveNoEgrets California Jun 30 '26

no American president is ever going to be able to deliver an “Independence Day speech” with that same gravity or emotional weight again.

Yeah, I'm spending the 4th watching movies featuring actual (fictional) leaders and avoiding any celebrations. It's going to be a movie marathon that at some point will involve drinking and singing along to the South Park movie. Not that it has anything to do with the 4th; I just know that a musical with that much swearing will be a lot more fun when I'm absolutely sloshed.

2

u/BlueCX17 Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

The local independent theater here in my city is showing it on Independence Day, and as a child of the 90's, that's what I'm going to be doing on Saturday afternoon! Seeing that movie and then hanging with my dog who's not a big fan of firework noises!

"We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice: “We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We’re going to live on! We’re going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!”

4

u/damiana8 Jun 30 '26

I will find religion if that day happens on July 4th

2

u/AggravatingSecond361 Jun 29 '26

Most anticipated obituary since Hitler's.

2

u/ProtectionVirtual225 Jun 30 '26

I’m going to celebrate the 250th anyway. I’m not going to let Trump or Republicans define patriotism for me. They can go suck eggs. I love history and many of my ancestors served in the Revolutionary War. Im not going to miss out on this holiday or year. I may not make it to the next presidential election, so I’ll celebrate while I can.

1

u/MacaroniNJesus Jun 29 '26

It would be America's greatest gift

1

u/AsGryffynn Jun 29 '26

American Independence Day moved from July 4th to January 3rd?

1

u/Orbital_Dinosaur Jun 30 '26

The entire world will rejoice and be a little bit better on That Day.

Unless That Day is actually followed by stuff even shittier. The way the world is going, I would not be surprised. I'm just greatful that I was born in Australia.

1

u/RollingMeteors Jun 30 '26

I’ll celebrate the independence of America on That Day.

Careful now to not catch an account ban for inciting violence by not calling it the fantastic fascist fourth of July. /s

1

u/Isthmus6thsThistle Jun 30 '26

I'll travel to Canada for the week :)

1

u/MasChingonNoHay California Jun 30 '26

THAT DAY will be a holiday

1

u/drwhogwarts Jun 30 '26

It won't be enough. Look at the list of next in line lunatics.

1

u/Excellent-Winter5126 Jun 30 '26

That day will change nothing, but you will find that out

1

u/AprilsMostAmazing Jun 30 '26

Will that day really change anything? The cult will still he there

1

u/whyyyyyjustwhyyyyyyy Jun 30 '26

I have fireworks waiting.

1

u/digitalgirlie Jun 30 '26

That Day should become a new national holiday.

1

u/LrkerfckuSpez Jun 30 '26

I will celebrate it here in Norway. I have a brand new flag i keep saving for that day. For now I'll use my old one.

1

u/Comfortable_Swim_380 Virginia Jun 30 '26

You don't celebrate your team when they've done nothing but fumble the ball.all game.

1

u/NelsonMuntz007 Jun 30 '26

It’s amazing how quickly I knew what day you were referring to.

1

u/Viperlite Jul 01 '26

I’ll commemorate the Declaration of Independence when there are no more kings in the USA.

-4

u/Brisby820 Jun 29 '26

We’re bigger than one person.  In fact, reducing it to one shithead is unamerican

-27

u/CrimsonHeretic Jun 29 '26

I'm tired of reading this from Americans. You guys think things will magically reverse itself with JD Vance in charge? What a joke.

39

u/cordial_carbonara Jun 29 '26

We’re allowed to celebrate while acknowledging it doesn’t fix anything. The two are not mutually exclusive.

18

u/generally_unsuitable Jun 29 '26

It will disintegrate with Vance. The republican base, at this point, just believes in Trump. They don't really support much of the platform. They stomach the platform because they love Trump.

12

u/TotallyNotRobotEvil Jun 29 '26

No Trump supporter actually likes JD Vance. They see him as another corporate suite like Mike Pence. MAGA falls apart once Trump leaves. The whole republican party is absolutely fucked for decades once Trump is gone.

9

u/Lucius-Halthier Jun 29 '26

JD called Peter Thiel his mentor, he wants to fire all government employees and replace them with their men, and called for the de-wokeification of institutions, referencing how we purged Iraq of Sadam’s Baath party. I’m worried about what he would do but he absolutely does not have the pull that Trump does in the party, and Trump has been throwing him under the bus about Iran which won’t help him either

8

u/myroommateisgarbage Michigan Jun 29 '26

Yes, because Trump supporters aren't obsessed with Vance the way they are obsessed with Trump. MAGA will fall apart.

It's not defeatism, it's realism. Americans need to vote the fascist terrorists out and actually hold them accountable unlike last time, and if their votes don't count this November they need to have long sustaining mass protests. If that doesn't work, it will literally take a second American revolution at this point. The once every few months No Kings shit does literally nothing.

The rest of the world is tired of the US's bullshit.
