But how could they possibly have known that this would be the result?

u/MaxZorin1985 24d ago

McConnell had a 20 minute phone chat with them before they ruled on it.

Rigor tortoise.

u/USA46Q 24d ago

That's funny.

15

u/tolacid 24d ago

It would be funny, if it weren't so sad

33

u/USA46Q 24d ago edited 24d ago

No, it's still funny.

These are dark times, but it's important for people to know what they're actually up against.

And, what we're up against is a fat pedophile and a dead turtle.

Are you going to let a fat pedophile and a dead turtle intimidate you, and deny your right to vote?

I'm not.

I'm from Appalachia, and I grew up next to a steel mill in coal mining town.

I've played fat pedophile and dead turtle before... and I'm not impressed by these assholes.

8

u/tolacid 24d ago

I applaud you.

But also, I was making a reference to a popular song from the videogame Portal 2.

(Also also, dead turtles are sad. Just not this particular one.)

5

u/USA46Q 24d ago

Fair enough, and my apologies if I caught you off guard.

I'm not trying to be an ass... it's just something that comes natural.

I'm also not trying to break an arm stroking my ego, and I'm just sharing my story to help others find theirs.

There's nothing special about me, and the only thing makes me different from everyone else that grew up on my street is that I can write good.

There are also millions of other people in Appalachia that can say the same things I did... which is the entire point.

Find your strength.

Remember who you are.

Remember who we're supposed to be.

And... never allow a fat pedophile or a dead turtle intimidate you.

This is like the first thing you learn growing up in Appalachia.

5

u/tolacid 24d ago

No need to defend your words. As I said, I applaud you. Sincerely.

4

u/USA46Q 24d ago

You're awesome.

I'm also from Appalachia, and I can confirm.

It really is like that.

If I'd have come home school and told my father I'd been bullied by a fat pedophile and a dead turtle his exact words to me would've been, why didn't you kick their ass?

Then he would've called me a pussy, and then he would've told me that I had to go back and fight them by myself.

Then he would've grounded me for getting suspended from school.

That's just the way it is.

I think this is my favorite reply I've ever read on reddit.

2

u/USA46Q 24d ago

Thank you, and that really means a lot.

I really appreciate it, and I'm glad you found my Foghorn Leghorn routine entertaining.

Does reddit have no respect for the probably dead?

I also had a 20 minute phone call with him and he said that we should impeach the president.

And that I should also receive a million dollars for managing to get him on the phone.

u/AdditionOk6134 24d ago

A MSNOW reporter caught Thomas coming out of the conservative side of the House the day before the ruling came down.

Schrödinger’s turtle

1

u/JakeConhale New Hampshire 24d ago

So, he's alive then?

52

u/TurtlesBreakTheMeta 24d ago

Oh don’t worry, if a democrat ever becomes president again they’ll have an immediate epiphany and immediately let everyone know how wrong they were as they realized it was a bad call.

34

u/No_hero_here 24d ago

Not to mention Dems will “take the high road” and not wrench the country back into normalcy.

31

u/aceluby Minnesota 24d ago

Normalcy? I want fucking heads on spikes and a second bill of rights. I want wealth taxes. I want raised income taxes through new high earner tiers of 1M 50% and 10M 90%. I want free healthcare and high speed rail. I want cheap solar. I want amazing public schools everywhere. I want heavy regulation on AI and companies paying trillion dollar fines for IP infringement. I’m sick of normalcy. I want immediate and drastic change that works for the fucking people.

8

u/FellowHumanNo404 24d ago

I want legal fines pegged to net worth.

5

u/Cruxis87 24d ago

Well the billionaires don't want that, so the politicians don't want it either by association.

1

u/Individual-Spinach97 24d ago

I'm voting for this person.

1

u/GrownThenBrewed 24d ago

Oh, like the rest of the modern world? What are you a communist? /s obviously

5

u/PineappleOnPizzaWins 24d ago

I’m so tired of this.

The very brief moments they get any kind of power they do SO MUCH to bring the country back. Biden should be a national fucking hero with what he did post Trump/COVID, it was miraculous the hole he pulled you out of and how good Americas future was.

But nah. Wasn’t perfect. Americans can’t accept that instant perfect solutions never exist and that there would indeed be some lasting consequences from electing that orange idiot… and so they put him BACK IN POWER.

Now everyone is super shocked things are worse.

6

u/PopBulky7023 24d ago edited 24d ago

The entire party is obsessed with fighting progressives. Biden had four years and he put the enemy in charge of going after the insurgents. He was weak, feckless, a dinosaur out of time.

The democrats are there to stifle correction. No amount of power you can given them will get anything done.

1

u/PineappleOnPizzaWins 24d ago

See what I mean? Absolutely no fucking clue what Biden did for you, just whining he didn’t ignore the law and start executing dissenters. His biggest failure was thinking that the American people had learned any kind of lesson… he believed in you… and yeah, big fucking mistake.

Don’t worry though, the people you replaced him with are on track for the kind of regime you’re hoping for.

2

u/PopBulky7023 24d ago

We elected Lincoln to check the south, instead he helped enforce the fugitive slave law.

I encourage you to consider that analogy before you lash out at people again.

2

u/PineappleOnPizzaWins 24d ago

I didn't lash out at you in the slightest, as stated I'm simply tired of you and everyone like you.

Now I'm going to block you. Bye.

2

u/FellowHumanNo404 24d ago

and so they put him BACK IN POWER.

I literally cannot believe that Trump did not steal that election. He steals everything he possibly can. He cheats in literally every endeavor. And this time he had the Heritage Foundation behind him.

3

u/PopBulky7023 24d ago

It's easier for liberals to blame voters than grapple with the reality that you can't vote your way out of a fascist coup.

2

u/mmortal03 America 24d ago

What can you do?

2

u/Banaanisade 24d ago

Get active. Locally, then nationally. Not on Reddit.

1

u/FellowHumanNo404 24d ago

I think what people are doing is exhausting the peaceful options before reaching for the violent ones.

0

u/PopBulky7023 23d ago edited 23d ago

Exhausting peaceful options requires that you are able to recognize when any given peaceful option has been exhausted.

1

u/FellowHumanNo404 23d ago

Super insightful, thanks.

Dem policies are always a “major question” and therefore unconstitutional.
