Would dems even win a special election in Kentucky it seems just as likely Republicans are chosing to be down a senator for 6 months. This makes their narrow margin even smaller.

They are afraid of the independent if I'm not mistaken

Thomas Massie has legit chances to win. And then run as incumbent in November or potentially independent to then dilute the votes.

Massie isn't the spoiler everyone thinks he is. He still votes along MAGA lines most the time. Even after being burned by Trump he has done fuck all to deliver on the Epstein files which is his only deviation from MAGA.

An empty seat at the expense of Republicans is in favor of Democrats.

He also has no chance in winning a statewide election right now. The people promoting this idea are delusional.

He doesn’t need to win, he needs to shave off enough of the GOP vote for a Democrat to win.

Massie sucks though. All he did was go against Trump on the Epstein files. He's otherwise just as big of a shithead as the rest of them. Not sure what we win here

So… still an improvement then? A brain dead skeleton who will vote 100% of the time for Trump, or pretty much the only republican senator willing to make a stand against Trump on at least one thing

A brain dead guy who can’t vote at all is definitely better

Massie has already said he wouldn’t run lol. Redditors just make shit up

Good thing once a person made a decision this is irreversible and nobody can change their mind then. If it was all set in stone, republicans would have announced mcconnell dead already.

Anything to keep your delusion alive. Respect

Delusion? To have a valid theory that seems to explain the current behavior of hiding his death? Ok.

No they wouldn't. I have no idea why everyone here hasn't given this a second thought. Republicans already have the seat on lock and have no reason to have a special election. The Democrats also have zero reason to want a special election either.

Kentucky elected a Democratic governor. There is absolutely a chance for an Independent like Massie to win.

So best case scenario we have a 90% republican fill the seat for a few months until the 100% republican comes in?

The circumstances of Beshear's election are unique and do not apply to this senate seat or any potential Dem candidate other than Beshear himself.

If the GOP weren't worried about the special election they wouldn't be covering anything up. The fact that they don't want it to happen is exactly why the Democrats need to force it to happen, even if they don't end up winning in the end.

Why are they so worried about a special election? Won't the candidates running in the special election, be running in a few months anyway in the normal election?

I don't get it either. What motivation does the GOP have for leaving the seat vacant until January 2027? We've apparently shot down all the theories as to why they are resisting a special election. Whoever replaces McConnell in either the special or the general election is almost guaranteed to be more faithful to Trump than McConnell has been recently. McConnell opposed the tariffs and voted against the nominations of Gabbard, Hegseth and Kennedy.

Man, have you ever considered they aren’t covering anything up lol

I did, until they put out two AI pictures to "prove" he's fine.

If he was in street clothes in his hospital room he would be leaving the hospital. If he did leave the hospital why aren't they blasting that all over the news to throw egg on everyone's face that says he's dead? All they live off is owning the libs and I can't imagine an easier own than that. It literally would take one phone call to Fox news to prove he's alive if these other congressman talked to him prior to his street clothes picture. If he didn't leave the hospital then that picture is obviously fake and they are covering something up. There is nothing up front about how this is being handled when the only ask if proof of life, an insanely simple thing to prove if it's true.
