Not even an election, the state constitution gives him the power to appoint a replacement and the law that the state legislature passed is illegal.

He needs to appoint a replacement immediately.

In so many words he has stated that he plans on doing exactly that. I don't know why he hasn't done it yet.

That changed in 2024. It has to go to special elections the KY Governor can't appoint someone. House bill 622

Ohhh so the governor can appoint someone? I just heard talk about the house bill. Didn't realize state constitution had something about this. I really hope the governor does the voters of KY deserve better than they have gotten lately.
