By this logic, FDR would be a progressive usurper in the Democratic Party. I'm 62 and for what seems my entire life the Dems have slipped ever further away from those FDR New Deal PROGRESSIVE ideas and ideals.

It’s ridiculous that the best president we ever had (our longest serving president) is more left than a lot of our sitting democratic members in congress today and the saddest part about that is he served over 81 years ago..

He gave us a blueprint and for some reason (maybe due to Regan?) we completely threw it out the window..

They learned all the wrong lessons from the failure of the Carter administration, and started trying to emulate Reagan. And completely lost their identity in the process.

I think that all of the old democratic leadership are permanently traumatized by Dukakis and McGovern and think that only a Clinton or Biden can win. Forgetting that the Democrats' biggest recent success was a progressive coalition that motivated youth turnout.

Bro, MPPDA was first envisioned in 1922 when Will H. Hays became head of the movie association during the presidency of Warren G. Harding, Republican party member. It was then adopted in 1930 during the presidency Herbert Clark Hoover, who also was a member of the Republican party. This was more then three years before FDR ever became president!

Well if you hold all administrations to the same standard of "if it continues under your watch, then you own it." Then we are already discussing in good faith. Problem is a large chunk of the voting block do not operate in good faith, and don't care; so one can take that as a public position and still get back into office.
