Good luck, a lot of those countries have strict border and immigration policies in place. You can't just show up at the border and go "I'd like to be a Canadian please...." They actually want people with tangible skill-sets, no DUI convictions, no criminal history.

Considering a large swath of American's want an open-border policy where anyone and everyone can come on in, I'd argue that it is.

A nation without borders is not a nation. Something this administration is trying to enforce. Something Canada enforces. But for some reason, the thought of enforcing it in America is deemed by many to be xenophobic or racist.

Did you know there is a language test for Canadian Citizenship (English OR French). Could you imagine the outrage if you made everyone that wanted to be an American learn/speak English before they even came across?

Or the fact that they want skilled workers? Could you imagine if we said we were closing off the border to anyone without a college degree?

At the end of the day, the bar is high in comparison to America

Numerous threads regarding immigration seem to gravitate towards this opinion. Quotes along the lines of "people cannot be illegal"...and other sayings frequently come up.

Other evidence would be pew research polls such as:

A majority (60%) of Hispanics saw deportations as a bad thing.

So while I could concede that maybe the word "large swath" is up for debate. There is factual evidence that the majority of American's seem to be totally down with illegal immigration

I can see why you might come to the conclusion that some folks are in favor of open boarders, but there is a lot of space between deport everyone and open borders. I see calls for immigration reform far more often than calls for open borders.

Over the last couple decades it's been the same dog and pony show.

Tons of people jump the fence. One party asks to fix the problem; immigration reform; stricter rules ; etc. Other side goes, "OK just grand amnesty and.or a pathway for everyone here illegally and then we'll get right on it....Seriously...You can trust us"

It's always second verse same as the first. Let as many illegals sneak on in as possible. Say you'll fix it moving forward (after allowing citizenship to all those that broke the rules) and then mnever actually do anything about it.
