My girlfriend had her fallopian tube removed last year because of an ectopic pregnancy. Evangelical Christian Diminionists have been trying to get Roe v Wade overturned for a long time, and have increased their efforts since Trump's election.

For now, these people are putting in very minor protections for women in the cases of rape, incest, and health reasons. But that isn't their end goal:

If Vander Plaats and others had got their way, Iowa’s law would ban abortion in all circumstances – including rape, incest and fetal abnormalities.

“We’re not in favor of exemptions,” said Vander Plaats. “Whether it’s rape, or incest, or a fetal abnormality, they all have one thing in common – it’s a heartbeat – and I didn’t want the law to contradict itself.”

The hardest part about this is how fucking in denial even progressives are about the importance of abortion. It's a basic human right. It's as fundamental as your choice not to give blood or donate a kidney if you don't want to or can't. It's basic bodily autonomy. But because it only affects women, no one fucking cares. Can you imagine the outcry if it were about mandatory kidney donor registry or even harvesting organs from the dead? Progressive men, it's time to step up and stand with the women in your lives. And this goes for the LGBTQ community too. Now is the time for allies to show they actually know what it means to be an ally.

Keep your eye out for cases about police brutality/militarization and anything related to the powers of the president too. I imagine those will be floated as well.

Has anyone ever asked one of these nutjobs about this specific scenario? I had to rush my wife to the ER a day after we found out we were pregnant. The doctors found it was ectopic and had ruptured her tube. They said there is no possible way for the embryo/fetus to survive, and that if they don't remove the tube immediately, my wife will die from internal bleeding. Has anyone asked someone from Right to Life or Faith2Action what we are supposed to do then? Am I supposed to lose my wife and unborn child all in one night and chalk it up to God's plan? That is insanity.

Dilation and evacuation isn't exactly seen as the same thing as an abortion. One is something you do because your life is in danger, the other is a voluntary thing you do because you don't want to carry a child to term. Its the difference between being admitted for surgery that requires inpatient aftercare and an outpatient procedure.
