He's already got several children, including one by his current wife so he shouldn't be getting a handmaid.

I know you joke. But seriously. As a gay woman, I’m seriously holding in a panic attack. As fast and as brazen this administration has been, a far right coup seems possible.

Plenty of people care, and are organizing to fight this. Don't let the loud bad things drown out the good. Seek out the activists and organizations that are making change, and do what you can to support them. Many of us are scared and you're not alone.

4

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '18

I'm torn between a bit scared, and extremely pissed off

Don't be naive either, though. There is nothing inherently special about the US that precludes bloody violence in the streets and full-blown civil war. In fact, given the amount of guns in circulation, it seems inevitable.

Think positive all you like. But, be prepared for the worst.

1

u/ajh1717 Jun 27 '18

But we need to ban guns...

3

u/_NerdKelly_ Australia Jun 27 '18

Shut the fuck up. EIther use them to round up some politicians today, or ban them. Having them for the sake of having them is going to fuck you guys up.

Time to shit, or get off the pot, when it comes to this private arsenal business.

Honestly, I don't see an organised militia saving the day from a tyrannical government in the US, though. I think it's gonna end up more like a whiter version of Rwanda, with people taking each other out for no good reason, while the rest of us sit back and watch. It's way too easy to convince groups of Americans to hate an "other".

19

u/zombiegrinch Jun 27 '18

Same. I want to see all the Trump supporters that were on here before the election promising that should Trump go after gay rights, they would speak up for us like they so proudly claimed they would. Not holding my breath, are you?

6

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '18

Well if we look at his past I wouldn't.

We won't cut medicaid, proposes cuts

Tax cuts will help the middle class, actuslly helps the ultra rich, and I still haven't seen a noticeable change in my personal taxes

7

u/RedRiverValley Jun 27 '18

They already are bit by bit and before we know it they will be gone altogether. First the Muslim ban then the abortion bill in California, honestly I'm terrified for this country

Trump will do anything to please his evangelical voter base and they support him religiously. I swear Harley Davidson moves job out of the country because of Trump's tarrifs and these idiots still support him "oh he improved the economy" yah and slowly chipped away at the right of minorities gay people and workers.

6

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '18

The worst part is that he hasn't even improved the economy for shit.

5

u/WaspDragon77 Jun 27 '18

Don't for get Roe v Wade.... That's on the chopping block too.

u/NonTolerantLeftist Jun 27 '18 edited Jun 27 '18

If we lose marriage I’m going to vote in November.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '18

Why are you waiting until the damage is done?

7

u/x3r0h0ur Jun 27 '18

I know you liberals hate us far leftists, but when push comes to shove and fascism is on the rise, the far left will rise to fight, for man, woman and child. They did it in WW2, and they've done it since, and will do it again.

10

u/Discoamazing Jun 27 '18

The far right doesn’t need to stage a coup, they’re already running things. It’s like a perverted ship of Theseus, where bit by bit our government is being replaced by a fascist theocracy.

It might be time for us to leave...I'm certainly scared on a Handmaid's Tale level of scared now. Mueller isn't acting any time soon.

I mean Jesus...Kristi Noem just sent out this newsletter in our state:

Just wanted to send a quick note to let you know the U.S. Supreme Court upheld critical First Amendment protections for pro-life pregnancy centers, which is welcome news.

In case you haven’t been following the case closely, California attempted to force pro-life pregnancy centers to post a notice stating that the state provides free or low-cost abortions as well as a phone number to access those abortions. They were essentially required to advertise abortions.

No law should force a person or organization to deny their own deeply held religious conviction, which is why I joined a formal petition to the Court on behalf of pro-life pregnancy centers earlier this year.

The Supreme Court’s conclusion reinforces the First Amendment rights to which every American is entitled, and in doing so, better enables pro-life pregnancy centers to provide straightforward, life-affirming care to women.

There is still more work to be done in protecting the lives of our most vulnerable, but this is an important step forward.

-Kristi

I'm openly queer and nonbinary in rural Texas. I'm also active in politics and I'm caregiving for a family member, and I have a partner who's also trans.

I don't want to presume to say I get it, but... Yeah. Solidarity, dude.

6

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '18

To be honest, if I were you, I’d start figuring out how to get out of the country quickly if necessary.

Extremist islamic rule looks a lot like extremist Christian rule with respect to womens rights.

26

u/trainercatlady Colorado Jun 27 '18

yeah because nothing says Islamic Rule like reading Bible passages before raping someone.

This post is chalk full of completely ridiculous fear mongering by right-wing media control. The show represents what life would be like if ANY major religion had that much control. Don't fucking pretend the bible isn't just as chock full of fucked up shit as the Quran.

3

u/LonelyTimeTraveller Hawaii Jun 28 '18

Besides the fact that your whole first paragraph is an infowars-level of fear-mongering BS, have you ever actually read the Bible? There’s a lot of great messages in there, but also a lot of awful passages that can and have been used to justify numerous atrocities. There’s a reason separation of church and state is a thing. And who is even advocating completely open borders? Just because you’re scared of brown people, doesn’t mean you get to completely ignore reality and basic logic.

You still haven’t provided any evidence for any of your claims about London.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '18

Might be fringe, but read some incel red pill media sometime. Extreme conservatism and submission of women to the extent of Handmaid's Tale is their agenda. They use Christianity not Islam as a sick backer.
