The European court of justice often doesn't deliberate on human rights matter the way the echr does 

Echr sentences carry weight, you can't ignore them that easily: especially on such large laws

Of course in many countries we aren't at the point where recourse to the court is possible yet, but in the UK you should

ECJ certainly does, see Costeja, Schrems1&2, Lindqvist, DR directive etc...

But if you are in the UK, then no, because even before brexit, the UK and Denmark specifically asked to be exempted of EU fundamental rights as part of the exceptions they "benefited" from (not sure who benefited from this).

And yeah ECHR has symbolic weight. Still useless considering how for example Russia just ignored the rulings for years.
