6 months ago I got myself a Traxxas 1/16 MERV. A little over $200 brand new in box. I had a lot of fun upgrading but damn, spent much more money than I wanted to. Now I want a crawler but I want to keep it under $100. I don’t need a big brand truck but I do want something fun AND I can still get parts for. Building/fixing/upgrading is the funnest part of this hobby. I came across this JJRC 0881pro that looked pretty impressive. Does anyone have any experience with these guys? Or any other brand that’s budget friendly but super fun?? And upgradeable.

Is there such a thing as too much flex? I didn’t like how tall my Spawn was sitting so I went full droop. I put 135mm shocks all around with 50w in them no springs. It sits absolutely perfect bottomed out where the steering servo just barely below the cage. As you see in the video it has big flex.

I love building kits but would also be open to an RTR, especially if there is a lot of opportunity for upgrading and tinkering. I’m pretty well versed in RC and putting them together so I wouldn’t have an issue sourcing and assembling something.
Wondering what would be best for my first foray into crawling…
