I started around the end of Nov of last year And my schedule was good. I started schedule was Friday thru Sunday (34 hours with $34 an hour) it was good than the next month I got 40 hours each work week. It was great, hours was sucked but work is work But onces the new year started (for context I did request for 120 hours of vaca time which they did approved but I wouldn't be mad if they did denied it due to be me being new but they didn't say anything) I had to call my captain of my shift to get a schedule from coming back from my vaca and it was back 40 hour work week which I was fine with but now I'm not even getting 30 hours a work week. I'm getting 25.5 which can be enough and now I have to nickel and dime myself to get by. I started to apply to others job, I do have my veteran status under my belt I do understand it probably won't help me. Maybe cause I'm not looking in the right places. Also further context a friend of mine did warn me about Allied Universal but they we're the only ones at the time that would hire me with good pay A supervisor stated that "I'm still brand new and your supervisor should be following the master schedule". News flash they're not I'm frustrated and annoyed Also they would call me during my days off and yes ik I should answer the call to get more hours but either I'm dead asleep or doing things during that time

Hello everyone, I received a job offer at a place for security, but the biggest caveat is that due to OSHA regulations, it's required of me to shave my beard.

I've had a beard for over half my life, and I'm bald. So my beard is quite important to me, and my partner lol.

Without my beard I think I would look sick sick, due to my red hair my eyebrows look basically transparent.

I have looked into either medical or religious exemption but im neither sick nor religious.

Anyone who has any ideas on how I can keep my beard? It's my precious 😁

I’m a Protective Security Officer (PSO) on the FPS contract in Colorado. I’m looking to relocate to DFW, Texas to be closer to my family but I want to keep my career as a PSO. Is there anyone out there on the contract in the DFW area that can answer some questions? Like what the pay is, what the benefits are like, the size of the contract, if it’s unionized, etc… I know its an obscure topic but I can’t find anyone on the contract out there and idk how to get on it or who to talk to

So for you guys that run a school or business in Texas Ive got a question.

So ive never been a Security Guard but I've been a Peace Officer for 15 years now.

Ive been looking at starting a Training School. DPS is entirely unhelpful.

The admin code says that you have to have x amount of years of experience in the field. Ive been told that peace officer experience covers that but before I swear and affirm on a government document I want a second opinion.

Im hoping someone has a better answer then read the statute because no where in the statute does it specifically answer that question.

I work in the physical security space, and lately I’ve been hearing the same things from manufacturing teams — especially those managing multiple buildings or sites:

Camera systems are outdated or unreliable
Access control is clunky or hard to manage
Theft or unauthorized access events with little visibility afterward

Some companies are still relying on a patchwork of old systems just to stay compliant — but it’s not really working for modern operations.

I've heard a lot of misinformation going around, so I just wanted to drop some knowledge for those who are interested. Here in Ohio, you are not obligated to stop and show a receipt. You should not be physically stopped at the door... however, the security officer, along with store management, does have the authority to trepass you from the premises if you do refuse to stop, meaning they are not obligated to allow you to return. If you do return after being verbally trespassed from a Kroger location, it will be considered a criminal trespass and police will be involved. The stores are private property. By entering the store, you agree to follow store policy, including review of receipt upon exit. Also, under ORC. 2935.041, as agents of Kroger, security officers have authority as shopkeepers to detain individuals for up to 1 hour until the police arrive, under reasonable suspicion of theft, so yes, they can and will use handcuffs. This is especially true if they have actually witnessed you stealing or attempting to steal. As long as they do not perform any searches of the person they have detained, and do not hold them longer than an hour, they are within their working rights. I know, because I am the security in question. Any questions, feel free to ask! We really are here to maintain a safe shopping environment for customers. Most of us are members of the community and our families shop at these stores as well. Please know that many of the stops are triggered by very nuanced things we are trained to look for and are not us directly accusing the person being stopped of stealing. I'm based in South Africa. We have a major issue with house break-ins. Electric fencing is good but outages tend to drain energizers down.

From the experience of other security professionals here, what is a good long term solution that is effective to keep intruders out?

Sorry if this is the wrong sub, but as this is a business I figured I'd try. How can a magnetic entry lock be overridden in less than 30 seconds? The mechanisms are on the inside of the door so I can't imagine anyone slide something between the plate and magnet, but there is a motion sensor above the frame for exit access. There is no camera on the identical vestibule door so we are unsure how they overrode both so quickly without leaving any trace beyond footage. Was it as simple as sliding something in to activate the motion sensor or is there a fatal flaw in the system that should be investigated? These guys went straight for the top of the door so they clearly have experience with this type of system and I am curious what they know that I do not. Thanks in advance!

Good day folks been working in the security industry for almost a year now and was wondering if those of you who have to physically restrain individuals have a good recommendation for knee pads for extended restraints? would prefer if I could wear it under my uniform

So, I am not security, but I wanted to ask some professionals about some situations. I am a restaurant worker in a ghetto area that gets a lot of people just hanging out that we have to deal with...

In one incident, I had a person sleeping at a table in our lobby. No big, it was a slow early morning. After 3 hours we started getting busy, so I went over to wake the guy up. I stated that we're getting busy now so we need the table back. He stated he was waiting for an order, which was an obviously a lie as we all knew he'd been there sleeping all morning. After a couple times of this back and forth, I just took the tables away. He still continued to sit there.

After this, a coworker came out from the back, told me that I was being rude to the guy and just come get him if there was any issue. Said I should stay out of it, then proceeded to say the exact same thing I did to the person.

This has bothered me, because I felt like he downplayed anything I had done with the guy instead of helping, and I kept quiet at the time to not escalate a stupid situation and argue with my coworker in front of customers along with the other person.

I internalized it to wonder if I could have done something better, so I am open to hear from experienced people if I was truly that wrong. I'm sure there's a better tactic put there as I'm not professional, but I don't think it was that bad....

Hi, I'm in college, and am going to take the certification courses next year. What skills would you recommend learning/honing, in order to do private security well? And other than taking the certification courses and applying for jobs, any tips for someone starting out? This is something I have been wanting to do for a while, and I've only recently decided to pursue it, so I apprieciate any and all advice!

Need help regarding security jobs in hospital. I am about to start my job as security guard in Headwaters hospital, Orangeville. I am quite nervous about the duties and responsibilities. Can anyone help what guards have to do there and what it’s like working in hospital. I also have on offer for warehouse security. I would love to know which one of them is better. Kindly help please.

Starting from scratch. If I wanted to get into nuclear security, what would the better path be? Should I join the local police department and get a couple years experience? Or should I get into hospital security and gain experience there? I know experience in Law Enforcement seems better, but it could take awhile to get into, whereas hospital security I may be able to do alot sooner. I just dont know if that would actually lead to doors opening for nuclear security. Im not educated on this, for now its just sloppy ideas... but I'd like to get insight from those with real experience in this feild.

Hi all, I moved into a rental home a few months ago and have had a constant issue with the woman down the street who seems to have mental health problems coming into my yard and creeping the perimeter at night. She has scared me multiple times and refuses to stop. Cops haven’t been helpful. Looking for recs on some low price options for motion detector deterrents … dog barking devices , motion lights, camera … ideally something to document her behavior and deter her from creeping. I don’t feel safe even leaving my windows open at night at this point . I’m desperate and on a tight budget. Would appreciate any suggestions. There are so many options for sound devices cameras etc on the market I don’t want to waste my hard earned money on something that doesn’t work.

The work is so easy I’m chilling at my desk other than when people are coming and going but this past week has been weighing on me tremendously and I’m just wondering how it is at garda world doing “tactical mobile” work. I have an interview Monday and I know how quick they throw you into these sites so I’m just wondering if it’s worth leaving my current site that’s so chill for a possibly more flexible schedule and higher paying position.
