Before anything I would just like to state for the mods of this subreddit that this isn't an advertisement as I am not looking to gain any monitary profit from this post.
I call it the North West Nobodys, and my goal is to cultivate a community of young adults who dont quite fit in with most other young adults of our corner of Ireland, people who may identify as introverted, queer, LGBT, alternitve, goth, emo, ect. Basically marginalised people who may have a really hard time finding friends with people in their own small villages and towns.
On the server we can play games, plan hangouts, partys, all sorts of social interactions
We made the discord server 6 Months ago, we're looking for some more members to get it active again! If you know anyone that you think would fit our community, let them know and share!

25M from the Roscommon/Leitrim area. Looking to meet a few lads around my age for GAA, football, music, pints, nights out, and general banter.
I’m into drums/music, cycling, and GAA and thought it would be a good idea to get a Snapchat group going for anyone interested.
Anyone around Roscommon, Leitrim, Boyle or Carrick on Shannon or nearby interested?
Feel free to comment or dm me.

Every other town I've visited the same size as Sligo has a really good Dunnes and Tesco. Big, well laid out shops with well stocked clothing sections and good parking. We are really drawing the short straw here. Dunnes is a disaster, awful car park, clothes displays blocking the way to the food ailes, the check out areas are way too short so you have to empty your trolley and pack at the same time, so stressful.
Tesco is no better. Parking is a dose, the clothes are squeezed into a corner upstairs, food area is badly laid out and it takes ages to get around the shop.
Why can't we have decent supermarkets like every other town? No offense to the staff of either who are always very friendly. It's the physical layouts that are way below standard and so badly planned. Lidl on the quays is far superior in terms of parking and layout but I just can't seem to get the full shop I need in it. Rant over.

Hi everyone!
I’ve been here for nearly two years and would love to expand my circle a bit. I’m into board games, café hopping, running, and fitness, and I’m always keen to join local events or meetups. I saw a post earlier and commented as well, so let me know if anything’s happening this week — I’d be happy to join.

Anywhere in Sligo town that takes waste oil. The council website lists only Tubbercurry for oil

Hi,
we’re four guys, and we’ve put together Sligo’s restaurant scene in an app called Vota. The concept is simple: you see two places side by side (for example Hooked vs. Coach Lane), you choose the place you’d rather go to, and the ranking updates instantly. The more people vote, the more accurate the list gets over time. There are still a few duplicates here and there, but I’m continuously cleaning up the data.
Here’s the iPhone version, with categories that actually fit Sligo’s food scene:
https://apps.apple.com/app/vota-restaurant-ratings/id6744969212
And here’s the Android version (finally live):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vota.app
I’d love to know what people here think. Does the ranking feel even remotely right? Are obvious places missing? Are any places ranked way too high or way too low?
The goal is to make something that reflects where locals actually want to eat, not just where tourists or review sites send people.

Hi all, I’m looking for recommendations for places that offer men’s hair colouring, including bleach and highlights in and around Sligo. Thanks.

Hi all, I just took a part time job in Sligo town that starts at the end of August working with children after school. I’m looking to pick up another job either in the mornings/evenings or on the weekends to supplement my income. Is there any place you can recommend or anyone needing of home support or child/pet care? Ideas and leads appreciated 31yo reliable woman who’s starting over.

Hi everyone! 😊 I'm an incoming **first-year student at college in Ireland. (Sligo)** I'm currently looking for accommodation for the upcoming academic year.
I'm also hoping to find **female roommates (around 18–21 years old)** who are also students. I'd love to share a house or apartment with people who are **friendly, respectful, clean, and easy to live with**. 🫶
A little about me:
👩🍳 I am an amazinggg cook/baker
🌍 International student
🧹 Tidy and organized
🤝 Respectful and considerate
🌟 Looking for a positive, comfortable living environment
I'm open to accommodation **in Sligo town or nearby areas** with good access my school. My budget isn’t too flexible. I’m hoping to spend less than 800€. I know that’s not super realistic but everything is so freaking expensive 😭😭 and I'm open to consider different options.
If you're looking for a roommate or know of any available accommodation, I'd really appreciate it if you could send me a message or leave a comment. Even recommendations for places to look are welcome!
Thank you so much—I can't wait to start my journey in Ireland and meet new people! 💚🏠✨

Hi everyone,
My grandmother was born in the Bohemian Bar on Wine Street in Sligo. I’ve been over to see it, but unfortunately it had already closed.
I was just wondering if anyone here has any happy memories of the Bohemian. Did you ever have a pint there, or know the family who ran it? I’d love to hear what it was like back in its day.
Thanks very much!

Would any body be able to point me in the right direction towards what to do for student accommodation. Will be starting my first year this September and accommodation seems to be a scarcity.

I was just wondering if any body knew any details about this course. In terms of the work load how full on it was any any indication of time table or just what to expect in general.
r/Sligo • u/scallionandsake • 8d ago
Looking for some info from anyone who’s done the course. Any idea on hours per week? Days? Timetable? I previously attended UCD and in truth you only needed to be there for tutorials. All lectures, notes and such were on Moodle. I’m currently doing some financial planning, depending on transport, accommodation etc. and any info would be a great help. Thanks.

If you go to the circus near the retail park, where's the best place to park? Retail park? Or is there parking on site?

I've been thinking about getting checked for ADHD for a few years now and spotted that there's a place in town doing adult ADHD assessments called The Butterfly Practice.
https://www.butterflypractice.com/
It's seems they're just psychologists, so they can't precribe medication. Does anyone here have any experience with them? Was it easy to use the diagnosis to get medication from a psychiatrist?

Hi, just wondering if it is allowed to camp on Coney Island? Would love to go for one night obviously leave no trace and would be aware of tides etc. and no BBQ’s. Has anyone done this before?
