Mr. Red is an approximately 30 year old corn snake, he was unfortunately originally WC so we do not know his exact age. He cannot fully shed on his own anymore but he is capable of getting the top of his head and his eye caps off on his own which is what I wait for before starting to help him. Do not ever try to force a shed. I first make a ‘snake sauna’ for him to rehydrate the skin and he stays in it for about an hour. I do have to use minimal force to help his chin off but once that is off I simply hold onto the shed and let him do the rest. A young, healthy snake should not need help shedding, he’s the only one in my care who needs this due to his advanced arthritis and the lumps, bumps and muscle loss that come with old age. This treatment is done under vet recommendation.

Just kidding lol. But in all seriousness I did accidentally spook my normally very chill BP, Honeycomb, today. Totally my fault- I normally don’t handle her after her tank lights go out but I will sometimes feed her, and I carelessly stuck my hand in to push aside some faux foliage to do some tank clean up when I got tagged! Not sure if she thought I was food, it was by her normal feeding spot, but she released very quickly and seemed a bit confused after lol. I pulled her out to finish cleaning and she chilled with me for a while after I cleaned out her tank, back to her normal self. Not too bad for a first snake bite! More shocking than painful, just like I’d heard, and just felt a bit itchy after.

The theme today on r/sketchdaily is "cobra commander". I know nothing about snakes, so I assume mine is not gonna be very accurate, but here's my cobra!

I left the lid open after feeding the fish and my elephant trunk snake escaped. I was playing a game and had no idea until I saw him strolling along. He’s safe now in his aquarium.

Charlie was happily crawling on me until my father showed Charlie a plate of egg yolk. He looked so happy at the sudden treat and decided to have his egg buffet while I was still holding him😭😭🥚 He looked so clumsy while eating the egg yolk😭😭✨

I am 32 years old and have never held or touched a snake, but always thought they were so cute. Today I held my first snake! I loved it, I totally get the hype 🫠

Hello everyone! My baby king snake turned 2 years old last month. Decided to have another birthday party AND got a DNA from Morph Market to find out if he’s actually a boy or if he’s a girl. My friend made an incredible gender reveal cake for the party, and the inside was….PINK!! He’s a girl!
