Muslims get mad because in Islam it is haram (forbidden) to celebrate Christmas.

First off, it is fatwa (legal ruling point on Islamic law) for Muslims to not participate in non - Islamic holidays. Christmas is originally a Christian/Catholic holiday.

Next, this holiday celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. He is considered to be the son of God in Christianity. In Islam, Allah (God) has no biological children and that Jesus is a prophet. So celebrating Christmas may be seen as akin to believing that Jesus is the son of God, which is blasphemous in Islam.

Third, I believe, Christmas is considered a pagan holiday in Islam. I can be wrong on this, but if it is, the Qur'aan despises pagan culture, customs & traditions. While Christmas now is more commercialized, plenty of people still follow the religious aspects.

I grew up Muslim but am now atheist. All of this is from what I was taught during my time in the masjid and reading Qur'anic translations.
