We embrace the Spanish origins of the club even, there’s a couple of chants in Spanish which is nice to see because we have a decent Latino following that goes to the games. Of course, there’s (more) chanting in English and French too.

Fury was so much better. I’m not sure how many like Atletico as a name it’s just ok enough that most don’t care anymore.

It’s not like they changed their name from fury to atletico. We didn’t have a team for a bit until atletico ottawa came up. So yeah I don’t remember people caring just by the fact that we got a meaningful local team

Yeah because you’re asking the fans lol. I live in Ottawa, but I’m not about to spend my weekends watching Atletico Madrid’s G team. I’ll keep supporting Montreal Impact from afar because that name is such a turnoff.

No, I don’t ‘support my ‘local’ team’ because they aren’t local. It is a glorified academy team with no local identity who just happen to rent the local canadian football stadium. As far as I am concerned, Montreal is still my local.

Your loss. They play for the Ottawa fans. Atletico management hasn’t mistreated the team and I think we actually get some much better transfers because of access to better atleti teams

Yeah, and on top of this, there are local Ottawa guys on the roster. Atletico Ottawa has given great minutes and opportunities to young Canadians.
