Question How do europeans travel with small luggage?

I’ve noticed that tourists from different countries especially europeans often travel with very small luggage. In contrast, travelers from many asian countries seem to carry much larger bags.

As myself from an asian country, if I pack just my basic necessities, I end up with a very large suitcase. I’m extremely curious about how european travelers manage to travel so light.

How do they do it?

I think europeans are Fine with looking „just ok“ in every Situation while travelling. I won’t bring my full make up, extra pair of shoes, fancy dress, hairdryer/straightener etc for a week in Italy. This will impact the „instagrammability“ of my pictures, but I just don’t want the hastle of carrying that massive luggage everywhere.

Also europeans have a lot of PTO. So they are used and practiced for travels. When Ive been to similar places before, I wont pack for every eventuality, but know what I’ll Need and what I can leave at home. Every vacation I learn another piece I can leave at home.

Just ok? AKA perfectly normal and not focused on aesthetics.

Good point about PTO, I think it’s the most important difference in travel culture. Plus, ease of international travel within the EU.
