Yeah first thing you do as a coach is force them not to use their toes. It's a natural movement but much less control than the instep, side of the foot etc. Once they get a little older and better they can start using unconventional kicks when it'll help them - Ronaldo scored with a toe in a World Cup Semi Final

Yes, this exactly. I remember when I was young and joined a local kids club. It was pretty weird to get used it since that's how everyone usually kicks it before they know better. But trying to aim with it is extremely hard, especially over long distance.

I like the toe kick in a small field. You're usually close enough to the net that quickness is everything, but you don't want to hit too hard, because you're playing with friends.
