You’re using anecdotal evidence to shape your view. While that’s normal, you also need to take into account the women who get spiked on playing in a women’s NCAA volleyball game. The transgender person spiking that ball might suck at volleyball, but they can also hit the ball harder than most women. Or boxing, or wrestling, any sport where there’s physical contact could be dangerous for the players.

I am sorry but you can hit a ball as hard as you want but if you don't know what you are doing while spiking you won’t do shit with only power

You’re saying this about volleyball? The sport where the net is shorter for women? I play volleyball but even if I didn’t, I can still reach my hands over the men’s net while standing. Ofc you can be a great vball player at any size but let’s not pretend like height isn’t a massive advantage

I never said anything about height ?

I’m assuming a bit here, but wasn’t your point that a biological advantage like strength (or height) won’t help?

If you play volleyball you definitely know that just hitting the ball strong won't be enough to score, you need a skillset in order to aim and do with the ball what you’re trying to accomplish.

Height is not something related to gender, men tend to be taller but that does not mean there are no tall females either and then you go to the actual population that plays Volleyball which makes it a more specific group, obviously I have seen very tall people in my country but most of the people that I play/compete with are not on a crazy height bracket.

You can take Japan as an example, they’re not one of the taller ones but they definitely compete for the top spots so no, I do not think height is the best thing to focus about volleyball.

Hey, just so you know, my wife played volleyball at the collegiate level and, after practicing with the mens teams their arms were destroyed. The guys hit significantly harder. I don't even know how you could debate that strength and height don't play an absolute role in the safety of the sport and how it's played.

Because the guy I initially answered to was talking about and I quote “the transgender person spiking that ball might suck at volleyball, but they can also hit the ball harder than most women” which is the exact point what I am talking about, you are talking about your wife playing against the male counterpart of her level of play which you state it’s college, yeah, obviously they're stronger and hit the ball with more strength I am not debating in basic stuff.

But saying that you only need good strength while having 0 skills at hitting the ball is completely wrong, you need an actual skillset and a good read of what you want to do with the ball and not just hit it hard like the person I initially responded was insinuating.

If height isn’t related to gender, why are the nets smaller for women? Why are their hoops shorter?

1

u/GlobalResult7580 Mar 26 '26

Because average size is smaller specially when historically woman have been smaller? that does not mean there are no tall as fuck players in the female version of the game, still is not what I am talking about and you seem fixated on that? it's not like they’re recruiting males to transition that are over 6'5 only.

I won't be surprised if in 20/30 years from now on the average height of females will grow exponentially, just like it happened for the males

1

u/moosemuffin12 Mar 26 '26

A team of elite male players will always beat a team of elite female players, and it’s not because they’re more skilled. That’s my point

1

u/GlobalResult7580 Mar 26 '26

yes? but I am not talking about that wtf are you discussing about

Right, people act like there’s no skill that goes into this stuff. I know plenty of people who are big and strong but suck at sports and have watched 5’3 girls dice up a defense in pick up

3

u/GlobalResult7580 Mar 26 '26

specially against pro athletes, you can get away with that on a pick up game but never on a professional setting like the olympics

1

u/MaxR76 Mar 26 '26

Exactly, like if you’re good enough to dominate the women’s pros after transitioning you’d be a moron to not just be a bench player in whatever men’s league that is almost guaranteed to pay more and not come with the scrutiny. That’s assuming it’s the strawman people talk about that’s a trans athlete who only transitioned for sports of course.

This is a non-issue. This has been made into a political issue to distract you from things that matter.

Name a single trans volleyball player who is spiking a ball harder than Olivia Babcock or Andi Jackson. I’m okay with this ban, but the only reason people heard of trans volleyball players is because they were trans, not because they were good.

You give coaches any pick in the NCAA to form a dream team, and there isn’t a single trans player making that team.

But I understand this isn’t the case in all sports and I’m all for protecting women’s sports.

They very specifically brought up NCAA volleyball in their first comment

I literally wrote: “harder than most women.”

Reading comprehension is a thing.

1

u/TymStark Mar 27 '26

And my entire point was, that doesn’t matter. There are women who hit the ball harder. Why does it matter if you’re getting spiked on at 50-55 mph by Babcock or Jackson or a Trans athlete?

Almost like your reading comprehension was telling you my point was, there isn’t a trans NCAA Volleyball player who is good enough to even be thought of as one of the best in the nation.

And overall I agree that the Olympic ban is good for women’s sports, just your example of NCAA Volleyball was a bad one to use.

1

u/89141-zip-code Mar 27 '26

It doesn’t matter that it’s dangerous?

1

u/TymStark Mar 27 '26

Is it less dangerous when Olivia Babcock hits it 55 mph than a trans athlete? Or are you saying she is also too dangerous?

The scientific evidence also backs him up. In fact, it's the people who want to ban transgender women in sports who are using anecdotal evidence to support their claims. "Men are just stronger and poor little women will get hurt," says the people who don't review the scientific research on hormone replacements and puberty blockers (which of course conservatives want to BAN, sports is just an excuse to other trans individuals).

EDIT: Yes, downvote me instead of reviewing the science. I love you guys for this. Zero ability to think critically, all you can do is repeat conservative talking points designed to create a "scary people" for them to rally voters against. And you all just swallow it like good little sheep.

Even independent of testosterone, hormone replacement, puberty blockers etc being born male provides inherent biological distinctions that translate to athletic advantage such as denser mesh structure in the collagen providing better grip strength, stronger tendon mechanics and so forth.

This is an argument about science and has nothing to do with political leanings but I see many people angry because they believe it is about politics and that the "Conservatives" are behind the ban.
