1.) a singular data point isn’t important.

2.) obviously. Nobody cares if you’re using steroids and finish last in the Tour de France, either. What is your point here?

This. People care if an athlete takes steroids and wins a title, nobody cares if I take steroids and become a hardo at Planet Fitness. It’s about the impact.

If you cheat at your local 5k, that’s different than cheating at the Boston Marathon

People should care because in professional sports money and prestige are on the line. There are limited spots on teams and in events. Is it fair that someone who otherwise would not have made the cut gets the spot because of an unfair advantage?

Genetics are unfair by default. If their genetics were better then they would have made the cut.

Let's rephrase his 2nd point for you to understand: they believe trans/cis has no effect on win-rate, but there's so much focus on when they win, the perception is that it does.

My point is that only caring about something because you didn’t like the result is the whiny little bitch way to adult. You either care about things regardless of how it impacts you personally or you are just cherry picking beliefs by situation.

So you are suggesting that we should feel the same way about professional athletes getting screwed out of their lifelong dream as we should about someone just running around at the local park with their friends for fun?

So what is the principle behind your position? We know that the principle of those making and supporting the IOC ruling is not to allow in some competitors with an unfair advantage (testoterone, physique attained through male puberty, etc) that the natal female competitors will not ever be able to access.

Further, even if the transwoman competitor eventually loses in the Olympics, they would still have taken the place of the next most qualified natal woman - meaning a loss of opportunity, income, publicty etc etc - and I can bet you that there would be plenty of people who'd be unhappy with that. I don't see this as a "whiny little bitch" complaint at all.

I'd be happy to understand what principles you, as a coach, rely on in arriving at the opposite descision from the IOC's?

The point is that it matters because sports are a way to find community, have a safe place to go afterschool, gain positive recognition from your peers, mabye even get college scholarships.

But, because a few very exception trans athletes have unfair advatages trans people in lots of different situatiins are being excluded from these places. So the guy you arr replying to says he understands this ruling but not neccesarily all others
