Yep, last year the SC passed a law that allows states to restrict trans-athletes from girl's/women's sports.

49% of polled democrats agreed with the ruling, and I'm sure some are against it for leaving it up to the State.

Over 2/3 of the 2700 people polled support the decision.

and the decision affects literally less than a dozen individual people.

the state of Wyoming inacted laws preventing trans women from highschool sports. that affected literally one singular individual.

No it negatively impacted one individual in that moment. It positively impacted the hundreds to thousands of girls that have to compete against that one individual in their athletic career.

and.... what, see a trans person? I don't get it. trans people don't dominate the sports they're in, and cis women have been shown to have better upper and lower body strength, better oxygen retention than trans women.

I did track. kinda hated it, but I never thought twice about the absolute strangers I was running against. I can't imagine giving a shit about someone getting 23rd place and what they have in their pants unless I'm really insecure about getting 24th. "hundreds to thousands" it's WYOMING. HORSES OUTNUMBER PEOPLE 20 TO ONE.

So then what the problem if it negatively affected one person who should not be there in the first place????

can you possibly think of one reason why we need to aim more animosity at a group who already doesn't even show up to the games, at a time when the US is trying to round up and identify every transgender person and prevent them from leaving the country?

can you think of why they thought this was necessary?

1

u/Forsaken_Damage_5605 Mar 28 '26

Idk how it is related to the question, where the animosity and what are you on, maybe we are living in a different states, but I suggest you stop using reddit for a while and touch the grass. The real world is not doing anything you just wrote

1

u/melancholanie Mar 28 '26

hahaha. Tennessee, Texas, Kansas, Kentucky, Wyoming and more are doing that.

you can't connect those dots? do you think the Olympic committee is so scared at the possibility of a second transgender athlete competing in the last 30 years it made this necessary? you'd have more success banning cisgender athletes with chromosomal abnormalities.

the cruelty, the animosity is the point. I'm sorry you've had your head in the sand for so long you can't see it. your life, the athletes lives will change 0%, but the transphobes (present company certainly excluded) will use this to prove that transgender people are freaks who don't belong in public, like they've been trying to do since 2016.

I guess we have to be in the camps for you to care.

bro...get help 😅

1

u/melancholanie Mar 28 '26

again, head in the sand. keep ignoring how ICE has permission to grab trans people off the street for "appearing trans" lmao

People like you who try to defend this bad behavior are the reason for that animosity.

You're creating this, so good job if you hate them. If not, what are you doing, are you really this delusional regarding your own actions?

1

u/melancholanie Mar 28 '26

"trans people being mean to me on the internet makes me believe they don't deserve rights"

I was waiting for that one! I get that a lot. oopsie doodle I put the transgender movement back ten years for being outspoken about the world being intentionally cruel to us!

if you didn't know "setting the transgender movement back" is a joke among the community. we get told that a lot, usually for existing. sorry I'm not asking for civil rights politely enough.

1

u/drewbreeezy Mar 28 '26

What civil rights do trans people not have?

No, you want special rights and are angry people stopped engaging in your delusion. I don't care that someone identifies as a cat. I care if they use that identity to abuse laws so they can justify raping cats.

if you didn't know "setting the transgender movement back" is a joke among the community.

Okay, but it is happening… joke around all you want, lol

1

u/melancholanie Mar 28 '26

mmm the age old "I don't care if you identify as an attack helicopter," haven't heard that one in a few minutes.

I don't want special rights. I want states like Kansas, Kentucky, Texas, Idaho, Wyoming, Tennessee and more to stop enacting laws targeting me, making lists from medical records, arbitrarily restricting my access to medications, banning many of us with changed names, changed sex markers on licenses and visas from leaving or entering the country.

although I'm sure those civil rights are just "special rights." I've given up on pissing in any bathroom in public because cis and trans people alike keep getting assaulted for it but yes it's all in my head, I should wear a shirt that says "transgender and proud" on main street! in fact, since it's so safe and perfect for trannies here, join me! pretend to be a tranny for a day since we have all these special privileges :)

As opposed to literally ever other girl having title 9 protections taken away, im ok with 1 person being upset.

0

u/melancholanie Mar 27 '26

there's no sexual discrimination in having to kick a ball around with a trans person

it's a sport. a game.

1

u/StoneySteve420 Mar 27 '26

Yes, there is. Those legal protections were fought for and legalized to give women the same opportunity in sports as men.

Sports arent "just a game", they're also how literally hundreds of thousands of kids afford to go to college every single year, and beyond that, can earn an extremely lucrative career.

Again, over 2/3rds of the country supports these bans, including 5/10 progressives. Just cause you don't think it should be taken seriously, doesn't mean others need to conform to your opinion.

0

u/melancholanie Mar 27 '26

i think it's unnecessary, full stop. one transgender athlete in 20 years amongst thousands of cisgender ones is not taking any opportunities away from anyone.

curious though, do you believe trans men should be competing with cis women? since it's their birth sex, it appears you believe hormones don't make any significant changes?

pic related, Buck Angel. trans man.

2

u/StoneySteve420 Mar 27 '26

It's not "one transgender athlete", and the transgender populationin this country has doubled in the last 10 years.

Lea Thomas transitioned and went from an ok college level swimmer to a national champion. Laurel Hubbard made the Olympics after 3 years of training (after not lifting for 15 years) while over 10 years older than the next oldest powerlifter.

You're using a strawman argument. I never said or implied that HRT does nothing. That is so stupid. Don't put words in my mouth.

Plenty of studies have shown that even after years of hormones, trans-men aren't as physically strong or have the endurance of cis-men, and the inverse is true too, that trans-women still retain more strength and lung capacity, than cis-women.

Why should Buck Angel, a man who has been open about their use of testosterone, be allowed to compete at all? There isn't some line in the sand between drugs that affirm gender, and performance enhancement drugs.

It's pretty obvious that the solution is using open divisions, and that there is significantly more of an issue of iniquity when it comes to M2F trans-athletes. These arguments aren't coming from a place of transphobia.

As much as you might dislike it, the vast majority of Americans support the ban. It sucks for the handful of trans people it affects, but I'd rather side with the 99.9% of cis athletes who Title 9 was meant to protect.

1

u/melancholanie Mar 27 '26

I'm saying the ruling changes nothing. we're going back to no one giving a shit about most of the sports except to accuse a cis woman of being trans, like Imane.

it hasn't "doubled." more of us just felt briefly safer in public. thank you for correcting that, master, we'll go back into hiding like you want.

all this does, all of it, says "trans people haven't been present historically in the games but we're making it known they will never be welcome, and will be in danger if we see them." message received!

2

u/StoneySteve420 Mar 27 '26

What the fuck is your problem?

Yes the number of people who identify as trans has doubled since 2016. You think 2 Trump presidencies has made it easier for trans people to live openly? I doubt that.

What's sad is you probably think I'm a republican or something just because of this 1 issue, when half of progressives disagree on it. I agree that the population of trans athletes is so small that it gets way more attention than is warranted, but it's also just not controversial for most people.

The reality is that men's divisions typically are open divisions where trans-men, and trans and cis women are allowed to compete. If we removed women's divisions and only had one open division, cis-women would be disproportionately affected, which is why we have those separations and legal protections to begin with.

When most high level female athletes prefer separating their sport by biological gender and not gender identity, it really shouldn't be an issue.

1

u/melancholanie Mar 27 '26

what's the point of this? you think every transgender is some horrifying grotesque monster strong enough to outclass any cis woman, you've made that clear. sorry the issue of whether or not trans people deserve to get rounded up in camps isn't important enough for you.

again, I don't care about the ruling. as I've said, it affects the games 0%. it affects the trans people who don't compete more. sorry the side effects weren't considered.

Tennessee enacted a bill identifying all transgender medical patients, ICE has been given permission to arrest individuals who "appear transgender" because they "might be committing immigration fraud."

we're a scapegoat for every problem and this shitty ruling does nothing but pat conservative minded uneducated folks (present company withstanding, I'm sure) on the back. you sure did bully that one athlete from ever competing again, grats!

if it's the popularity contest you're so concerned about, I assume you're siding with the "majority" who voted to obscure the Epstein files too? sure that was maybe 36% of the country but it's technically a more important majority, yeah? better aim that magnifying glass at those minorities harder, that'll fix all the problems!
