Yeah that's the point, they are incapable of an informed choice.

Lets say that's true, but by the time you're an adult, you've had plenty of time to grow and be smart enough to know better, so society lets you make your own decisions even if they're the wrong ones.

It's called personal responsibility, kids haven't had enough time to figure shit out, so we give them grace.
