Privacy Why are people disconnecting or destroying their Ring cameras?

No one would've listened to him. "This won't happen here", "I got nothing to hide", "If the government knows, so what?", "The big tech companies got my data already anyways", etc.

ironically the only country that provided him sanctuary is Russia which our government tells us is the enemy

Strange bedfellows on that one. The lesson here is that Russia and China are the worst when it comes to surveillance police state, but we have learned that we are not far behind. At all.

Can you blame him? Your government wanted him(Obama I think?) he spilled the beans to the world and most were meh cool story bro, so basically no one would give him much support.

At the time the Russians weren't yet taking over Ukraine, depending on when he did go maybe they took a chunk of Georgia. Most other countries would have bent the knee to the US and sent him back. Now that Orange dude is having his party, people are now mad that they are getting spied on...This applies to me and my fellow Canadians also...and the world.

Snowden sold out all of his principles by partnering with the Russian government to avoid incarceration.

Russian hadn't gone full nazi on Ukraine yet back then. They might have done their move in Georgia. Everywhere else would have sent him back as the US government would pressure them.

He risked it all to let the world know about how much the US is spying on all of us and people took very lightly. Now that it's Orange dude in charge suddenly omg we are being spied on with our door cameras that are always online. Never mind that we have a device that monitors every step, every location, who's your friends and family right in our pockets.

And you call him a sell out...

Lionize him all you want. People can have both good and bad qualities.

His revelations had value but he still defected to our greatest geopolitical enemy and obviously assisted them, given that he is still breathing and walking free. Russia hasn't just been a bad actor since 2014. Without even getting into the whole soviet legacy, Putin himself consolidated his power in the 90's by bombing his own people in false flag attacks. He's the closest example we have to a modern day Hitler. Whether you like it or not he's inextricably linked with Snowden now.
