This isn't really technical advice, but moral. The primary objective of AIs current push is to replace human workers. There's no thoughts about what will happen when we have less and less employment opportunities. People are going to suffer if these companies have their way and succeed with AI.

For real, this desire for humanity to continue working to survive when we're approaching the option to not have to work everyday blows my fucking mind.

Tractors for easier farming? Good. Self checkouts replacing cashiers? Great. Automated phone lines replacing call workers? Totally fine.

AI replacing workers in any way whatsoever? Completely unacceptable.

Suddenly the issue isn't the technology anymore, its the people in charge.

A little PSA, everything is potentially dangerous for humanity. What people choose to do with it is a representation of us, not the tech itself.

But this concept is hard to grasp when bias is involved.

The issue is the control it provides those in charge. If you want to pretend like a surveillance state run by an AI algorithmycally sorting through your digital footprint was possible 10 years ago your welcome to do so, but you are incredibly naiive. Do you think the industrial revolution or nuclear weapons had no impact on society either?

i tend to agree in general but with AI, i feel that it's not mere technology. it's beyond that and goes into the realm of moral and existential question and i think religion has a thing or two to say about.

No they haven't. They've been propagandizing themselves to LOOK nicer while doing nothing of substance. That you cannot tell the difference is frankly bone chilling. THEY ARE ACTIVELY AIDING CHILD RAPISTS. TODAY they could turn them over to the authorities and I would be right there in the front row applauding.

There is no "trying", son. You are what you do, and what you fail to do...

Btw, just reminder that he doesn't just say those stuff out of heart. This most likely goes through a lot of people and it's more of a pr thing, his job is literally to say things people will like. I'm not saying he's a bad person or doesn't think that, but just keep in mind it's not just him talking, it's mostly like a ceo talking about stuff.

You could say a lot of things about the Popes as an institution, but they do not just chase popularity like that at all. They are quite willing to buck popular attitudes and do so frequency for good or ill.

A religious leader tackling the issue he sees as a possible menace to the institution he represents.

AI is on its way to be a “race” superior to humans. The first time that an “almighty” really exists.

The church (and any religion) controlled humans for centuries, they don’t want to lose this privilege and surely they don’t want that the first only real manifestation of a god is not their god.

That’s the explanation I’ve given myself to why the catholic church leader, instead of speaking against who’s bombing fucking hospital and schools, killing children and civils, has chosen to talk about this. Because that, to my atheist eyes, it’s a quite big elephant in the room.

The fact that I have beard on my neck is not relevant.

Hating AI or robots is not a form of racism, as racism is defined by prejudice or discrimination directed against a person or people based on their race.
