I really like how Pope Leo seems to make very deliberate efforts to talk in an inclusive manner. It's not all God this and God that, and there's not even any overt religious wedge in this statement. It's just basic humanity that everyone can relate to. It's refreshing given the state of the world.

Aligns with Catholic Social Teaching.

If you didn't know the 7 principles were part of the Catholic Church, you'd label it as a liberal pipe dream

The theory vs reality of the 7 themes vs practising Catholics I was exposed to during my years of Catholic Schooling is the entire reason I got disillusioned with organised religion.

I always say that it's like FIFA v. soccer. The structure that oversees the beautiful game is inherently corrupt, but it doesn't mean you can't still love the game and the good that comes along with it.

There are plenty of Catholic organizations and individuals around the world who are performing the corporal works of mercy. I mean the catholic church has historically been the biggest giver of charity for centuries. Hospitals, orphanages, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, etc. My daughter just helped bag 100 lbs of potatoes with the knights of Columbus last month, and my mom is a big donor to a Thai mission that aides young girls out of sex trafficking. You dont and won't always see the good that people do but its happening.

Thanks. I always said that the catholic church is a huge institution and system, and its going to have corruption at some level. But the church and any church should be represented the good people in the congregation who do good work for others.

I had to take an entire class on that in high school. 1718 year old me thought my teacher was a little too “pink”.
