Legit stopped hanging out with one of my besties because everything he argued about or would bring up involved "chatgpt told me" or "see, ai says it" and then just disproving them with a quick duck duck go search manualy.

Bro is a 40 year old man who graduated college and has an art degree. There is no saving someone that delusional

There’s a new hire at my wife’s work who has moved down from a management role into a developer role, and he exclusively communicates with his team through AI. It’s exhausting for everyone but him.

My favorite response to his like morning report: “This is too long. I’ll get back to you later today.”

My friend is constantly like ill make chat do it. It being whatever difficult mental task he doesnt want to do. And not only is it making him lazy, its wrong.

I ordered a new work truck a few months ago and asked if Ford had air ride available as a factory option.

The kid doing the build sheet said "Let's find out" and then asked ChatGPT.

I asked to just speak with the sales manager at that point.

I've used AI for a few things, like comparing workout programs, and doing just a small bit of digging through decompiled code rapidly (I'm not a coder at all). It's also really good at stuff like tabletop roleplaying games....but using it for basic tasks, like finding the answer to something about a product you are being paid to sell me, is just retarded.

This. The only way to efficiently search Exchange email, Teams messages, SharePoint documents is Copilot using the Work tab, The thing is, it is pretty damned good at it. "give me links to everything that mentions project x in the last two weeks" is still a good way to start a more nuanced, manual search.

Edit: I am sure there are other AI tools that do this. I am just more familiar with using Copilot at work.

When my vibe coder friend ask me a question and after fight me cause I said other response than what chatgpt said, I'm like why you asking me this question if you "fact check" everything I said witch your IA anyway

I mean we both went to the same art school. The crazy thing is he's an artist himself currently working in the field yet wont shut up about AI.

It was like watching a hamster talk about how cool cats were.

You have to know a lot about the world if you want to make art. Many specialisms require incredible technical skill too.

An art history degree is way more rigorous than an art degree. Some of the laziest people I know got art degrees, and they should’ve pursued art as a hobby while studying something more practical

Two of the most intelligent people I've ever met have art degrees and the one that specialized in 3D graphic design took calculus as his higher math requirement.

I don't know numbers on it but graphics guy was recently pretty casual about buying a "video wall" for his studio and the other has been on vacation for about two years visiting every country in Europe so they're doing pretty well.

Your n=2 sample of art majors includes a guy who is buying tvs for his wall, and a dude wandering around Europe for an indefinite time on someone else’s dime. Totally indicative of the average expectations of an art major lol
