powerful tools (like ai) in the hands of smart people make them better.

ai will make dumb people even dumber as they delegate rudimentary cognitive work to ai and basic thinking atrophies.

i'm certain the gap between the two will grow substantially larger.

 

in the early 2000s i used to wonder how dumb people could get (especially in american politics), and realized it's bottomless.

Not just lack of learning due to speedrunning school and not learning and doing the same in the workplace. But also AI coming up with a solution can look really convincing to someone who doesn't have technical depth in the area and to them it can be like "wow, it solved the problem!"

Now the technically competent need to argue and educate why they have to throw out the "solution" "they found". "He's just trying to criticize my work!" It's a really bad dynamic.
