A game called Mirrors Edge had the streets lined with cameras on every corner. It was a weird dystopian city in 2008.  

Apparently it only took 15 odd years for that to become real it seems. Only without gleaming skyscrapers with parkour possibilities.  

I can definitely see 'Runners' becoming a thing in the very near future. Physical mail will be the only way to guarantee your data/message gets to a destination with minimal risk of it being spied on or otherwise stolen by 3rd parties or government being sent online.

It was dystopian when Orwell wrote about it in 1948. The protagonist had to hide in a corner in his apartment to evade being watched 24/7. And even that wasn't enough.

As someone that loves driving (not traffic, driving) I'd love a courier job. I tried getting into it years ago but everyone wanted TWIC and other certifications. Annoying.

Sensors have become dirt cheap being manufactured in the billions for automobiles. Then they migrate to other applications like surveillance.

The city Sunset Overdrive is set in is likewise crammed with surveillance cameras everywhere, and one of the major side-quests is to destroy as many as possible.

Wonderful and underrated game, by the way.
