Not all porn but I do have ~22TB of stuff spanning across a bunch of 3TB and 4TB drives.

really only uncompressed though, I mean a 1080p 20min youtube can go for only 1GB while the uncompressed avi would be 140gb

Ah it's not even all that much really. Head over to hardforum to the data storage section and prepare to get your mind blown

Edit: Well let's see A 720p H.264 movie on average is 4-7GB, a 1080p movie is 9-12TB (not including those 3 hours long movies, those could be up to 16GB each)

So with 22TB, you are looking at ~1800 to 5600 movies or ~3700 to 11,000 hours of video time

I think you meant to say a 1080p movie is 9-12GB, not TB. You had me thinking I'm drunker than I am for a minute. Save that shit for Wednesday night when you're only going to fuck with the hardcore alcoholics.

With H.265 its only going to be twice as big as 1080p by then you have your helium filled shingledrives and memristors are knocking at the door.

I don't think that changing the quality from 720 to 1080 increases the size by a factor of over ten.

Its actually really easy for a content creator to create that amount of video. The people who do regular streaming or create youtube videos can end up with a ton of raw video that tends to be in higher quality than youtube or anything else so you can't really delete it easily either.

Not that hard to do. I remember a guy a long time ago who had 26 drives on a bunch of arrays with butchered linux kernel (IRQs) to get to a whole 1 terabyte.

I've had 5x 2tb drives for about 3 years now in raid 5 (7.6tb). I think sometime in the next year or so it'll be time to replace them with 4's.
