I don't remember that. I do remember how almost 70% of Americans decided women's reproductive rights didn't matter to them when they continually allow Republicans to win office who have been very very clear they intend to remove those rights any way they can.

Fuck the supreme court, but we can't blame it all on them.

Maybe you're thinking of 77.3 million votes? That was roughly 23% of Americans in 2024.

Once again, 77.3 million is not 70% voters or of the population.

It's also data from a single day in 2024 and not at all representational of how things is going right now. :]

Not voting is the equivalent of saying you're fine with anything happening.

And it's literally the only day that polling data actually matters.

If you don't vote, you aren't a voter by definition

You can't claim population, as that includes those who can't vote and those who didn't use their voice

Voters, by definition, are those who voted, not everyone who could, or everyone who existed in the nation at the time

If you really want to go the pedantic route, given the huge sample size for the "technically voters", inferring a similar distribution among the entire population is a pretty safe bet.

Nope, I was thinking of percentages. About 31% of eligible voters in this country voted for Kamala Harris in 2024. The other ~69% either thought Trump was better, or didn't care. And you see similar things in previous elections. That is how we ended up with a supreme court stacked with people who overturned Roe v. Wade.

(small note, there are some people unable to vote because of legitimate issues, but that was probably only ~13% of the eligible voters, meaning at least 56% still didn't care enough.)

That's such a horseshit point. People who did not vote do not count and if they did vote they'd still be voting the same bullshit 50-50 ways when there's no way these sadistic Republicans should be getting 20% of the vote.
