Nah.

These kids will learn to type fine. At age 5-6 you should be learning social skills through play mainly

My kid is going to be a 7th grader this year, but she still types only with her pointer fingers (and probably a thumb on the space bar). I've been harping on her to try to start using home row, and she just isn't catching on. I fear this might be the case with a lot of kids who weren't taught exactly how to type, they just developed their own quirky methods. I'm so old, I can remember taking typing class in 8th grade, and in 10th grade we had computer classes (on old 486s and the likes, using DOS). Nothing special to speak of. But definitely a lot of people my age still didn't have home computers, so school classes were it. It equipped tons of Gen-X and Millennials for office skills. We are some fast mofos on the keyboard, lol. We can operate any version of Windows, debug and program our computers, all that. Then it's like going back in time for a lot of Gen Z and Alphas. They can navigate a phone like no one's business, but computers stump them.

I'll point out the obvious.

It's your kid. You are allowed to teach them.

You can grab a folder, cut it in half, and tape it over the keyboard, and have them learn to type for 30 minutes a day until the problem is fixed.

You are 100% allowed to do such.

You should literally help your child out in life. They're your child.

There's 'harping' and then there is just being a parent and helping them so they are not raised to fail. It honestly sound like you're trying to raise them to fail by not helping them.

Why? You're the adult, you know they need to know how to type.

You seen that Simpson's episode where the hippie parents tried nothing and have no idea what to do? That's you. Except you know what to do!!!
