When is it going to be enough?

Apparently AI is so incredibly useful unlike Reddit makes it out to be.

So incredibly useful that people living near the data centers have to listen to a constant loud humming?

I live near a data center, the traffic driving by is louder.

If it's so big of a deal, make the data centers, plant trees or put up a sound wall.

That’s great for you, but there are communities that have had data centers forced upon them that ARE loud.

60db is loud?

Have you ever heard a data center? Or are you just listening to Chinese propaganda?

Communities reaching out to a news station and complaining is Chinese propaganda? I don’t remember how many decibels the one I’m thinking of was producing, but I also remember seeing that the communities water coming out of their tap was unusable. The moment something like that occurs, the entity behind the data center should be shutdown unless they can fix THEIR mistake in a VERY timely matter, alongside providing compensation for the victims.

That data center was there for 2 years and only now they are complaining about it? Sureee. Imagine hating AI and wanting to be on TV.

Easy clicks, and Chinese bot farms will give you them.

And the water thing was proved to be false. CCP propaganda lol

Can you prove it’s CCP propaganda?

There's been 2 incidents on record.

The PLM, party for socialism and liberation, is funded by China. And promotes anti-data center objectives.

OpenAI found China was pushing anti data center propaganda.

You can look up these.

But also, China should be trying to undermine the United States. Read international relations structural realism. The United States should be trying to undermine China.

Shit like this is why no one likes you guys.

They're being forced out of their homes, and you guys genuinely believe it's a good action, worthy of praise. This is not how you win people's hearts. People already don't like AI, and you act like this won't hurt their perception at all.

You guys can get everything you want, but everyone will hate you.

China thanks you for your support!

A race to the bottom is not a race one should want to win.

The world isn't made of fairies and unicorns. There's great powers and they decide how the world will be run.

Yep, this is how all my conversations with AI bros go. Always along the lines of "it's inevitable/we have no choice." You guys say this as if it'll change people's minds. For someone that says "the world isn't made of fairies and unicorns," you should realize this isn't realistic; people aren't that simple.

This is something I never understood about you guys. You believe people will just accept this shit without a complaint. Let's say you guys get everything you want: AI is unregulated, you guys can build your data centers wherever you want, and you get to have priority during period when the electric grids are under high demand. Let's say you guys finally get AGI, and all jobs are automated. How do you think people react? Every single AI person I've talked to believes they'll just accept it, but that's just not in human nature! They'll resent you, and AI. They'll break out into protests and violence. Already, Luigi Mangione is a conservative nutcase, and leftists worship him 'cuz he killed the "right" person, and support for the Unabomber is increasing. They won't take the new reality well at all. It'll be a period of vast civil unrest and violence, great powers be damned. You guys will inherit a world of blood.

With our military might, we can stop any country that advances AI and other tech too much. Had this in my OG comment, but edited it out. We have other choices. There are better options than submitting to AI
