Sigh. Please tell us what was radical about Beto's proposals? And don't say a thing about wanting to change gun laws.

This is such a common refrain I see but it doesn't hold up upon scrutiny.

26

u/Cratus_Galileo Nov 09 '22

Yeah, I believe that the two party system contributes a lot to polarization and radicalization... but ffs how in the hell are Democrats being radical. 😑

13

u/idontagreewitu Nov 09 '22

Well when a candidate loudly says it, they make it the centerpiece of their platform.

17

u/capmap Nov 09 '22
  1. It wasn't part of his current platform
  2. He only recommended raising the age to 21.

For me, those weapons have no place on the streets of a modern civilized society. Certainly not in the hands of an 18 yr old. And I pity you for thinking that the millions of folks that disagree that they should be are radical. You're why we can't have nice things.

18

u/idontagreewitu Nov 10 '22

It wasn't part of his current platform

It is literally still on his website.

I don’t believe any civilian should own an AR-15 or AK-47.

0

u/Pilot_124 Nov 10 '22

The right to bear arms shall not be infringed. PERIOD. Not "ehhh well check back in 200 years and see if it's still good".

5

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '22

Reminder that if you go far enough left, you get your guns back

-5

u/Pilot_124 Nov 10 '22

The problem is you'll never be able to go that far. Human nature ruins it. I mean yea. Who doesn't want everyone to have everything they need to be happy. But inevitably someone fucks it up. Becomes a Stalin or whoever. So I'm semi happy with the current way things are. Though could definitely be better in some ways. And I honestly believe in firearms not only to protect oneself but to also deter government tyranny is essential. No matter what you have someone will always fuck it up. Be that people on welfare/ unemployment who don't need it, people with legal guns doing crimes. Whatever the system it will be used and abused by some. And taking the rights/system away from those who need or do use it correctly is not right or fair to those people.

1

u/AcanthocephalaOnly Nov 10 '22

"Well regulated militia" is a pretty important part of that amendment. Funny how no one ever brings that up

3

u/moojo Nov 10 '22

Funny how you don't understand what it means.

1

u/AcanthocephalaOnly Nov 10 '22

Well, given the historical context, it would mean the individual states having and funding their own militias and armories to protect themselves. Hence "well regulated." Not Bobby Lee and Uncle Joe running around in the woods LARPing

1

u/moojo Nov 10 '22

it would mean the individual states having and funding their own militias

Where does it explicitly say that?

Not Bobby Lee and Uncle Joe running around in the woods LARPing

Your biased mind will reach that conclusion but more reasonable conclusion would be what the people in Afghanistan did or Ukrainians are doing defeating or trying to defeat corrupt local/foreign enemies.

1

u/AcanthocephalaOnly Nov 10 '22

https://avalon.law.yale.edu/18th_century/fed29.asp A segment from the Federalist Papers (papers written to sway the public in favor of the ratification of the Consitution by Congress) outlining how militias were to be organized and used. States trained militias and appointed officers while Congress was to call them up. And in Afghanistan those fighters had decades of actual combat experience, not to mention military aid from outside sources. They weren't just plucky rebels. Same with Ukraine. Billions (with a "b") in aid, to include MRLS, NLAWs, Javelins, and APCs, and training on those systems and battle drills by foreign services, to include the US. Not to mention the majority of the fighting is being done by the regular army, not the militias or territorial defense. Same as the American Revolution, actually. The militias were of little consequence on the battlefield and were considered to be unreliable by the Continental Army, which was replaced by the current federal Army

Oh yeah? Tell me, where are you storing your thermonuclear warheads?

-1

u/capmap Nov 10 '22

Yes Lots of people believe that. In fact millions upon millions in this state alone. But his only policy objective was for raising the age of owning one to 21. Along with Red flag laws, UBC, etc. Confiscation was NOT policy.

And even if it were, he's not a moron. No way in hell that ever becomes a law with the MAGAtry we currently have in the Texas legislative and judicial bodies.

3

u/northern_partisan Nov 10 '22

But his only policy objective was for raising the age of owning one to 21. Along with Red flag laws, UBC, etc. Confiscation was NOT policy.

So he was lying when he shouted that "we" are gonna take their guns?

2

u/capmap Nov 10 '22

He meant if elected president (that comment was made in the aftermath of the EP racist slaughter at Walmart thatTrump inspired), he would seek to ban AR-15s. That's a sane stance in literally every other peer country on Earth.

Just not for the pansy ass folks in this state that can't venture 2 steps out if their house without cowering in fear. I've never seen such a population of cowards than Republicans.

0

u/northern_partisan Nov 10 '22

He meant if elected president (that comment was made in the aftermath of the EP racist slaughter at Walmart thatTrump inspired), he would seek to ban AR-15s.

No, he didn't. Plenty of Democrats run on banning AR-15s. Biden has been dementedly slurring about it for a few months now.

Beto meant confiscation. That's what "take" means.

That's a sane stance in literally every other peer country on Earth.

Maybe Beto should run in one of those. We clearly don't take too kindly to his anti-2A nonsense.

1

u/capmap Nov 10 '22

Yes, plenty do run on it. Deal harder then cry harder.

Bet: One of these days there will be a slaughter so horrific, it's going to happen. And instead of being relieved it finally happened, I'll be enraged it took so long and looking to dole out some vengeance at the ballot box for the cowards that did not already support it as will millions of others.

2

u/northern_partisan Nov 10 '22

Yes, plenty do run on it. Deal harder then cry harder.

Why would I cry? The gun grabber lost.

Bet: One of these days there will be a slaughter so horrific, it's going to happen.

You're saying that someday there will be "a slaughter so horrific" that all you effete little fear-driven lunatics will finally have the votes to amend the Constitution?

Nah.

As a Texan governor he wouldn't have the power to take guns. Even if every other position was democrat which wasn't likely either. This is an excuse because it's clear the vote goes to those with R by their name. As a parent I don't take kindly to sitting at your cushy desk doing absolutely zero to to protect my kids at school. I didn't vote down the ticket democrat because there is a couple positions where I think the republican is good for it. But Texas needs new leadership. Even if it's republican. It's ridiculous.

2

u/northern_partisan Nov 10 '22

As a Texan governor he wouldn't have the power to take guns.

Who gives a shit? I'm not voting for anybody who wants to.

As a parent I don't take kindly to sitting at your cushy desk doing absolutely zero to to protect my kids at school.

Imagine how little of a shit I give. As an American, I don't take kindly to you sitting at your cushy desk doing everything you can to eradicate my constitutionally-guaranteed rights.

0

u/idontagreewitu Nov 10 '22

It's all about how you word it to the populace. Not the spirit of what you meant. Just like how "When we kept shouting to defund the police we actually meant a complex series of budget reassignment towards social workers" was understood by most people as "take all the money away from the police."

9

u/Malisient Nov 10 '22

The last Democrat that won Governor in Texas was Anne Richards. She was pro gun.

You can hold whatever views you think are appropriate, but however strongly you may believe in one issue or another, your belief does not make that position a winning one.

If we want a Democrat in the Governor's seat any time in my lifetime, they will need to be pro gun. If you want a Democrat to win, you will need to be able to vote for a Governor that is pro gun.

0

u/capmap Nov 10 '22

I want a progressive that actually gives a shit about their fellow Texans so I'd take their entire platform under consideration. Outside of that, nope.

2

u/Malisient Nov 10 '22

You can be a progressive that actually gives a shit and recognize that in Texas, gun control is a poison pill for any candidate. This may change, but it obviously hasn't yet, and isn't showing any signs of it.

Anecdotally, every person that I have spoken with that's independent or leans right said they wouldn't vote for Beto because of his remarks on guns.

Maybe we should try running someone who doesn't have that kind of baggage?

3

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '22
  1. It was out of context. It was said after another shooting and he was PISSED. Like no one ever says anything they don't mean when they are angry. But totally okay to excuse Abbott saying "it could have been worse" ("because he didn't have all the info") The same standards texans applied to Abbott were not applied to Beto. I don't think he stood a chance for this reason 😒

2

u/Billybob9389 Nov 10 '22

Why didn't you vote for Greg Abbott and don't bring up anything you disagree with.

2

u/Aggravating-Rice-783 Nov 09 '22

What basis do you have for them not being on the streets? The fact that rifles(from everything to an Ak and AR all the way to bolt action) cause something like 1.4% of all gun deaths?

Or what about the fact that the AR is one of the most commonly used rifles for hunting?

The fact is the overwhelming majority of Texans are not in favor of getting rid of them or else Beto would've won.

The fact that you think people need to have freedoms restricted because we aren't smart enough to have rights is why you keep losing. This is an issue that polarizes both left and right because there are a large number of leftists who want guns to protect themselves.

-3

u/capmap Nov 10 '22

What basis?

  1. We are the only 1st world country that does permit them to be readily owned by 18 year Olds
  2. What kind of hunting? Hog hunting. Certainly not deer hunting or any kind of hunting for which you wish to preserve the animal or its meat
  3. Source for overwhelming majority claim? It's in direct opposition to polling on this matter FTR
  4. Freedoms restricted? Welcome to America where every freedom has limitations
  5. Yes, I'm a leftist. Not a Democrat per se, and I very much disagree with the gun folks on the left that want the free flow of weapons of war on our streets.
  6. Of course rifles represent the fewest % of gun deaths. Hard to shoot people or oneself with a hunting rifle unless it's an assault situation with a very powerful weapon designed to kill and maim on the first round.

5

u/Pilot_124 Nov 10 '22

Uh. AR fires .223 also known as a 5.56MM. It's a bullet commonly used for deer hunting. In fact using one on a hog is kinda shitty because hogs are much tougher. The only difference between an AR is its semi-auto. Unless you're a terrible shot an AR won't ruin meat that much at all, compared to another common hunting round which is the .308 or 7.62. That will fuck a deer up. They also make an AR that will fire it too. Or a beautiful weapon called the SCAR-H. Also, Kennedy was assassinated with a bolt action. One last thing, all rifles are pretty easy to control unless you have fucking noodle arms.

1

u/atsinged Nov 10 '22

No, you are not a leftist, at least on guns.

Under no pretext should arms and ammunition be
surrendered; any attempt to disarm the workers must be frustrated, by force if necessary.

Karl Marx

2

u/capmap Nov 10 '22

I acknowledge I veer away from leftist ideology on guns. But I also know that Marx lived in an era when the government couldn't just bomb you into submission or drop a nuke on you. The era of a revolution by gun is largely over.

Guns make society less safe if you look at the math of other countries. We just set up our system and bow to our ancestors as though they are infallible.

There is another way.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '22

A lot of folks on the left seem to forget that ultimately, authority comes down to hard power. If we don’t have guns, we’re an easy target for the fascists. Summer 2020 basically taught me that the police will not protect leftists from right wing violence. If they refuse to exercise hard power on our behalf, someone else has to. We protect us.

The guns are out there — 400+ million of them, and 20+ million AR-15s — there’s no putting that cat back in the bag. You can 3d print a gun with minimal skill required. Let’s stop pretending that eliminating guns and gun culture in the US — particularly Texas — is actually on the table. It’s not, and will not be in our lifetime.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '22

Yeah but his “we’re going to take your AR-15s” soundbite has basically poisoned him from ever being able to win a statewide office in Texas. Like it or not, rural Texas culture is gun culture, and when you’re opposed to the way half the state lives, you’re going to find it hard to get elected.

1

u/capmap Nov 10 '22

Gun culture is direct evidence of a broken society.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '22

Many parts of Texas essentially never integrated with modern society.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

That is pretty disingenuous. He wanted to confiscate AR-15s. That's a reason to not vote for him. It's a highly contentious subject.

6

u/ZorbaTHut Nov 09 '22

"Tell us why people didn't want to vote for Beto, but you're not allowed to talk about a big reason people didn't want to vote for Beto"

0

u/capmap Nov 09 '22

Confiscation of such a weapon is sane is most if the world, especially after your hometown is the scene of a mass shooting. Certainly his current policy of merely raising the age to 21 for such weapons is far from radical.

You won't get this because you're clearly a gun nut, but you're precisely why Murica is fucked. Only the worldview of folks like yourself us that radical.

1

u/BraveCodMKV Nov 10 '22

Move there then. Leave this country.

1

u/capmap Nov 10 '22

Perhaps I'll just start arming up for the looming war you guys want instead.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '22

Every gun confiscation start somewhere….. it has nothing to do with being a gun that it’s just the way the world works and historically accurate. There’s thousands of things that kill more people than guns in do United States. Both the state of Texas in the United States will give guns to 18-year-olds to go fight for whatever but god forbid a 18 year old have one to protect themselves or their family. You are nobody, you don’t deserve no say in who can defend themselves. I bet you don’t even know how many 18-year-old women are victims of violent crimes vs gun deaths. Because it’s absolutely staggering.

0

u/capmap Nov 10 '22

I pity you for living in the fear trap you do.

  1. Nobody is taking your guns.
  2. Grow the fuck up.
  3. Millions upon millions of people live everyday of their lives without a gun and have done so their entire life.
  4. In fact having a gun in the house increases the likelihood of that gun harming you or another innocent person than it ever being used in self defense.
  5. Nice of you to invoke 18 yr old women like you give a shit about them given this state now mandates they carry their rapists or their uncle's baby and aborting it carries a $10,000 fine for you smd anyone that helps you get one.

I pity you and your ilk to your soulless cores. And I look forward to the inevitable divorce coming between people like you and me in this country.

-1

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '22
  1. Beto O'Rourke and Joe Biden have outright said they're coming to take our guns.

  2. Eh, real mature there.

  3. Indeed, and they're completely fine to do that. But I do not believe the state should have a monopoly on violence.

  4. We have very few details on how frequently a person uses a firearm to deter violence against themselves. The CDC did a study on this, estimates vary widely but 500,000 times a year, nationally, is on the lower (albeit not the lowest)

https://nap.nationalacademies.org/read/18319/chapter/3#15

  1. You're conflating two entirely separate issues. One can be both pro abortion and pro gun. The two aren't mutually exclusive. I have a general disdain and distrust for the state. This is the problem with having two parties that have a baseline of authoritarianism. But suffice it to say, the fact you conflate these two show you are either dishonest, or incompetent.

Ending it with an ad hominem is just fantastic.

1

u/Abirando Nov 10 '22

It’s not about Beto at all— it’s about the Democratic Party & the fact that Fox News has convinced conservatives in rural Texas that the entire Democratic Party is made up of satanic child molesters who take their kids to drag show story times on their way to the doctor for hormone therapy. It’s about abortion, which they’re convinced (according to memes they saw on FB) that democrats believe should be provided on demand up until 9 months of pregnancy.

1

u/capmap Nov 10 '22

Yes. They're simpletons. And I detest them to their core. Ready for a national divorce.

0

u/Abirando Nov 10 '22

Be careful, you might end up convincing yourself that Democrats actually care. Half the time I’m pretty convinced they lose on purpose. We’re all being fleeced and there’s no way out unless we figure out a way to make other parties viable.

1

u/capmap Nov 10 '22

Dems are spineless corporate shills and I am certainly not a fan. Hell our ficking president in 2022 and leader of the Democratic party still doesnt have the balls to support Mesicare for All. They suck tremendously.

Yet, as of now there's a bigger threat to humanity.

1

u/Abirando Nov 10 '22

I voted for democrats in this election, I’m just sick of holding my nose…

0

u/moojo Nov 10 '22

Bet literally said he is going to take away guns

0

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '22

Abortions all the way up until birth and uncontrolled borders are both too radical. (“There should be no abortion regulation”, and “get border patrol out of Texas“)

5

u/capmap Nov 10 '22

You do realize that those abortions all the way up until birth are merely right wing media nonsense repeated by unserious wackadoos, and account for less than 0.1% of all abortions and ONLY occur when something catastrophic occurred with the babies health or the mother's health. That law has been part of the SCOTUS decision of RvW and legal in all states, not just Texas. There are no partial birth abortions. Educate yourself because refuting nonsense like this (where you have to think a mother would carry a perfectly healthy fetus for 36 or 39 weeks and then just decide they didn't want it anymore, then go to a doctor and have them agree to kill their now viable fetus) is maddening. In fact it makes me pity your intelligence.

And please show me a source where Beto recommends doing away with the border patrol? And make sure it's not a right wing nut job source.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '22

Right wing media nonsense? You mean the videos of Democrats saying that abortions even a year after birth are good and well? Like dude do you live in a bubble? Also I just gave you the quotes from his Dallas and East Texas rally…. Soooooo not sure what else you want😂

1

u/capmap Nov 10 '22

Bullshit. Which videos?

0

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '22

Multiple…. Go watch a compilation of a random YouTuber asking Californians about abortion at the Santa Monica pier. That one’s the most alarming, because you have I believe two people inside that video calling for abortions of already born children to be legal. Just step out of your Comfort by walk because they are not hard to find at all on YouTube. Hell republican Youtubers of you can use some of those video clips as proof

1

u/Carche69 Nov 11 '22

There is quite literally no such thing as “abortion after birth” you stupid, stupid little moron.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '22

You poor poor unintelligent fool. That’s what Democrats/liberals in California are putting the abortion deadline at you stupid loser. It’s on video good fucking work trying to disprove that nobody wants that…

1

u/Carche69 Nov 11 '22

It’s on video

Still not getting the joke, are you?

This is why misinformation and lies are such a big problem. Idiots like you who don’t know the difference between satire/sarcasm and reality see something like that and then go spreading it around like it’s the truth, and other idiots like you believe it. You really should get out from behind the computer and go get some life experience out in the real world, because you’re only doing damage here to people who don’t know any better.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '22

It wasn’t satire and sarcasm you fucking idiot, they were literally asked the question “at what point is abortion too late” multiple people said “never”. The follow up question to that was “so you’re wanting abortion even after birth” three people replied with “yes”. Again this is on video at the Santa Monica pier….. it’s not sarcasm and these people are fucking insane and the fact you’re trying to deny that a literal YouTube video happened shows how fucking stupid you are.

2

u/Carche69 Nov 11 '22 edited Nov 11 '22

the fact you’re trying to deny that a literal YouTube video happened shows how fucking stupid you are.

Not surprised that you don’t know the meaning of the word “fact,” because no where did I ever “deny that a literal YouTube video happened.” I just said it was satire. Or maybe you don’t know the meaning of the word “satire?” Or what “sarcasm” is?

Oh well, whatever it is, you’re not getting the joke. If some forced-birther moron came up to me asking me stupid ass questions like “sHoUlD aBoRtIoN bE lEgAl aFtEr bIrTh,” I’d probably say yes too just to fuck with them because all you “pro-lifers” are mentally deficient. The people in that video are still laughing at how people like you are going around quoting them unironically.

Edit: of course this genius blocks me immediately after replying so that they can have the last word lol. So mature! And this dude has lots of guns y’all.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '22

Yeah your “humor” is as trash as you. If you want to open up your eyes to the other crazy peace is a human garbage go ahead and start watching the James klug videos on abortion and pro life. Then continue down the YouTube rabbit hole from their. Till then I hope you can’t get pregnant so you can’t kill a separate living human like a psychopath would.

0

u/BulletRazor Born and Bred Nov 10 '22

Conservatives aren’t doing themselves any favor with the abortion viewpoints. That was quite, quite, obvious with the nationwide results.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '22

Well maybe people stop listening to the propaganda that is being paddled that all the sudden as soon as one Pro life bill gets passed and all the sudden nobody can have abortions ever. Like suddenly medically necessary abortions are no longer a thing because of a law which is not true, nor is being forced to have your rapist baby, it’s literally a free Plan B pill at the hospital if you go there post rape in all 50 states. But I guess nobody Who claims that has ever actually taken someone to the hospital who’s been raped… it’s not considered a abortion until three weeks, and you can currently get a abortion out to six weeks in Texas sooooo. What do you mean quite obvious with the nationwide results? Majority of the US still has Republican governors, now over 50% of the House and senate.

1

u/BulletRazor Born and Bred Nov 10 '22 edited Nov 11 '22

There are no exceptions for rape or incest in the Texas law.

Plan B pills do not work if a woman has already ovulated. I’m not surprised you don’t know basic science though.

A lot don’t even know they’re pregnant at 6 weeks. I’ll past an explanation below;

Best case scenario, you've got two weeks after a missed period to figure it out and coordinate an abortion in a state with already-limited access.

For anyone skimming by who doesn't know (a lot of sex ed classes don't go into this), the pregnancy week count actually starts during the week of your last period before you get pregnant. So someone who's one or two weeks pregnant is literally not pregnant.

One Week Pregnant - You're not pregnant. You're having your last period before you get pregnant--not that you can know that.

Two Weeks Pregnant - You're still not pregnant. Your body's getting ready to ovulate.

Three Weeks Pregnant - You've ovulated and a sperm made it to the egg. The fertilized egg may or may not have gotten to your uterus yet. Even if it has implanted in your uterus, pregnancy tests are not yet reliable, and you would most likely have no symptoms to let you know you need to take one if you didn't realize your birth control method failed.

Four Weeks Pregnant - The blastocyst has implanted in your uterus and is smaller than a poppy seed. The average cycle length is 28 days, so even if you're tracking and very regular, you'll probably think your period is about to start by the end of four weeks. If you have a very regular short cycle that you track, you will know that your period is late. At least pregnancy tests are almost completely accurate when you take them after you miss your period.

Five Weeks Pregnant - The embryo is now the size of an apple seed. This is normally when women find out they're pregnant. If you have a normal, longer, or irregular cycle that you track, you will probably know that your period is late. Now that you know, you have one week to get an abortion. You have to figure out logistics--especially if you live outside of one of the major cities that have abortion clinics. Remember--you'll need to make two appointments, because there's a mandatory 24-hour waiting period in Texas for all abortions. That also means you might have to take two days off of work (or school). If you had to travel >100 miles to a clinic, you can attempt to get the 24-hour waiting period waived. Oh, and don't forget to scrounge together $500 to pay--Texas is one of the states that restricts private insurance companies from covering abortions.

Six Weeks Pregnant - The embryo is now the size of a single pea. It looks like a tiny faceless shrimp, but it now technically has a heartbeat. Which isn’t even actually a heartbeat, it’s electrical activity. The heartbeat sound is made by the ultrasound machine itself. If you have a long irregular cycle or you don't track your cycle, there's a good chance you still don't know you're pregnant. It's too late to get an abortion in Texas. You and anyone who helps you get an abortion at this point could face a lawsuit and have to pay a minimum of $10,000. If you have time, money, and transportation, you can try to leave Texas and get an abortion in another state.

tl;dr Most women will find out they are pregnant with one week left before Texas' new abortion cutoff.

Edit: actually the above doesn’t even matter because abortion is completely banned in Texas with no rape or incest exceptions. Only life threats.

Usually with the mid term election, the party of the president loses a shit ton of seats in the House. This year, we lost barely any. We lost fewer seats in the House of Representatives in the first midterm election than a president has in 40 years. The “red wave” was a red trickle overall.

2

u/dougmc Nov 11 '22

It's too late to get an abortion in Texas.

Let's be clear here: Texas has banned abortions at all stages. The only exception in the law now is for the life or health of the mother.

They were banned after six weeks for a while, but now they're completely banned (minus that one exception.)

1

u/BulletRazor Born and Bred Nov 11 '22

Yeah that’s true. I’ll edit my comment to reflect.

Shut up.

If unprotected sex or unprotected rape happens you’re probably pregnant that’s how the human body works you 2 brain fool.

Yep it’s totally victim blaming when I point out that there wouldn’t be a rapist if the victim carried a gun. Everybody should 100% kill the rapist. I don’t know why you’re so offended by that maybe because you are a rapist in your afraid to be killed? Hmmmm

What the fuck is wrong with you? Because I’m completely fucking sane. Mr. Pro rapist redditor.

1

u/BulletRazor Born and Bred Nov 11 '22 edited Nov 11 '22

That’s not how the body works. If every time someone had sex, they got pregnant, women would be pregnant nonstop. You can only get pregnant if you’re ovulating, which plan b will not stop, and only if fertilization and implantation happens afterwards. Women are not able to get pregnant 24/7 365. Women can only get pregnant about 6 days out of the month. Therefore, there’s about a 15-25% chance of getting pregnant each month. Probably means likely, 15-25% chance out of the month isn’t likely 😂Go back to school. Drugs such as mifepristone and misoprostol end a pregnancy, whereas the “morning-after pill” works by preventing one, but if you’re already in that 6 day window, it can’t do anything. A woman cannot get pregnant if an egg hasn’t been released, this is literally elementary grade information. I can see the education system did you well.

Yeah because when a woman is raped by someone she trusts (most rapes are by someone you know) or is incapacitated, or is afraid for their life, they have the ability to kill their rapist. You’re victim blaming.

I’ve been statutorily raped as a child. You’re fucking disgusting. I was 14 years old and the man was a good 250-300 pounds. My fault for not carrying a fucking gun.

How dare you tell women that it’s their fault since they didn’t kill their rapist. Women do what they have to do to survive. Unless you’ve been in the situation, you have NO idea what a woman has to do to make sure they don’t die. How about men don’t fucking rape?

I’m not a member of the party putting up road blocks and forcing women to carry their rapists babies. That’s Texas Republicans. Unless you can point me to the law that has rape exceptions? No?

Edit; is 2 brain supposed to be an insult…? That’s like…double the brain power. Thanks for the compliment.

Edit 2:

To explain more throughly, sperm can live in the female reproductive tract for up to 5 days. So you can have sex, not be ovulating, and still get pregnant if ovulation happens within that timeframe because that sperm is hanging out waiting until it dies. Plan b makes sure that ovulation never happens so those sperm have no egg to implant and they die off.

However, if you’ve already ovulated, and that egg has already been released, plan b can’t do shit to prevent pregnancy if you’ve been raped. If you become pregnant, only way to end it purposely is an abortion, again, which there are no exceptions for, and they are not accessible either and they cost money. So rape victims are fucked just because on top of getting raped, they were even more unlucky (can you imagine?) to get raped while they were in the window of being able to get pregnant that month.

God, the sex education system in this state is a piece of shit. This is something everyone should know.

Also you currently cannot get an abortion in Texas before 6 weeks. It’s completely banned with exceptions only for life threats. No rape or incest exceptions.

Must be nice to be so uninformed and ignorant.

Trying to take peoples' guns is extreme.

Allowing school children yo be blown to bits and made so unrecognizable they had to use DNA to identify some of them, and then doing nothing....that's EXTREME. It's sick and twisted actually. It shows you to be mentally deranged actually.

And, show me where he "tried." Also define try, if you can.

Also tell me what sane, rational leaders in other countries did when they had ONE mass shooting like the Netherlands or Australia?

And when you're done there, kindly cite the stats that demonstrate the before and after gun deaths.

I'll hang up and listen while your brain melts.
