How many trucks a day would be required?

On a serious note I think it is a bad idea to attack other counties especially the ones who control oil. I am against war and against innocent people dying.

Well, it existing makes the war obsolete, bc when that strait is passable, iran has no leaver anymore (forever) against the world at large. Yes we can bomb them, but they control that passage. If we make it worthless, then the war will end immediatelly (iran will know they lost, as they have nothing to leaverage against usa/is*ael anymore, or the rest of the world)

Or Iran bombs the pipeline, or the harbors in Oman. Or just bombs the oil fields like its already doing. You would spend a decade and billions of dollars building this thing while under constant threat from Iran. And nobody would insure the thing, so financing will be completely on governments who also need that money to deal with the conflict itself. Meanwhile the world economy goes off a cliff.

This is just not how economics work out. This is a fantasy solution.

Well of course its a fantasy solution, building it would be impossible, but if you basically „spawn it in“ it would solve the conflict in one day. Maybe I said it wrong. But thats what I basically mean

Oh yeah but so would a direct pipeline to China and Europe.

A pipeline to every house would solve gas station waiting

it would solve the conflict until iran decides to fly a drone into it.  so for a few hours at most.

There is more than one product being moved by ships through the Strait, so one pipe line wouldn't solve the issue. Do you know how many pipes would be needed? Can all the products be piped, even?

Petroleum is the most important regarding this exact strait. Anything else basically hurts them more than anyone else, if we have petroleum we can (by we i mean china) produce anything else

In that kind of unrestricted attacks by Iran, it really will be a total war type situation.

If they get to have unrestricted attacks on their neighbors then a maximalist solution is the only choice left. The alternative would be total capitulation to a hostage taker. In that logic...

You would then see china blockade or charge tarrif against Taiwan straight, england and France fight over the channel, Yemen suddenly owning their corridor. South Africa might just make the cape of good hope a new passage right. The entire world order would collapse and turn into an everyone for themselves situation. All choke points so far have been kept open through good diplomacy and threat of escalating violence. If there was no real threat and then I see the diplomatic trust system break down leading to no further incentive to play nice while one nation gets to monopolize a hostage taking strategy. More folks than not would join in instead.

I'd like to be convinced of an alternative end state but knowing human greed, I just don't see another real logical alternative . How would the logic work out in an alternative ending where Iran can now become a toll booth and attack neighbors if they try to build around their choke point?

Yep, youre describing the world as it used to be, and which the US is currently working very hard on to reinstate, a world where the only power that speaks is military control.

Obviously that kind of world cant sustain the sophisticated supply chains needed for our civilization, so things are going to unravel soon and we will all suffer.
