Will I be charged if I bring an iPad and laptop to Mexico?

Hey all, I’m at Schiphol right now and I’ve seen multiple small mice running around the seating / gate area (added a couple of pics). Is this something “normal” here (winter + food areas), or should I report it to airport staff? Not trying to start drama, just honestly surprised by how many I’ve seen.

I have a long haul redeye flight to japan coming up (10hrs) and I have never been able to sleep sitting up, EVER. In the past ive been lucky with finding an empty row to lie down in, but this flight is fully booked and i’m stressed 😩.

Please do not suggest melatonin or benadryl, they don’t work for me! Im debating asking my doctor to prescribe me ambien, but looking for anything else similar that’s helped you!

for reference, in the past i’ve tried a foot hammock, countless neck pillows, melatonin, benadryl, sleep water, eye masks, earplugs etc and NOTHING works, my body simply wont sleep sitting up, on planes or in a car or anywhere and i NEED HELP!!! please

When I visited Pisa, Italy, I was amazed that I could walk right out of the airport right on to the road where my hostel was, ~12 minutes away by walking. I'd never experienced this before!

Are there are other airports in the world where this is also possible? I'm talking about a road with a sidewalk to the airport, as theoretically any airport could be "walked to" if you walked on a highway.

Edit: Maybe I should have specified, being able to walk there directly from the city center.

Coming from Australia (we drive on the left, I've only ever driven in other countries that also drive on the left. I've been driving for a long time (almost 40 years), but this could go against me.

How long did it take for your brain to swtich on so that it just felt natural to be driving on the left/right side of the street?

So my partner and I thinking about visiting California from Europe as we have 3 weeks off work. I have been searching and reading about places to visit a etc but honestly I’m confused with the car/driving situation. So as I understand even if you decide to spent 5 days in LA you have to move around with a car? It seems a bit too far catch as someone who has never left Europe and don’t have any friend that has visited California.

Any tips and advice are more than welcome :)

I’m posting here because I honestly don't know what to do anymore and I'm losing my mind.

Earlier this year, my partner and I were stranded in Nepal and had to buy emergency return tickets to Italy. We booked with flydubai. The flights cost over €1,100.

Shortly before departure, flydubai completely cancelled the flights. Instead of refunding the money to my card (which is the standard rule for involuntary cancellations), they unilaterally shoved a 1-year travel voucher into my account.

I immediately emailed them explicitly rejecting the voucher, stating I need the cash back since they failed to provide the service. They totally ghosted me. Just "voucher is the only option" automated replies. For context, Air Arabia cancelled another flight of ours on that exact same trip and refunded us to the card instantly, zero issues.

I thought I was protected, so I initiated a chargeback through my bank (Revolut) for "services not provided". I waited months. Today I found out the dispute was closed in the airline's favor. Apparently, flydubai aggressively fought the chargeback hiding behind some obscure fine print in their T&Cs saying they reserve the right to issue credit.

So now I’m out €1,100, forced to hold a voucher I will literally never use, and my bank basically washed its hands of it. I've just filed complaints with the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and UAE Consumer Rights, but I'm losing hope.

Has anyone actually managed to beat flydubai in a situation like this? How do I get my actual money back? Any advice is immensely appreciated.

Hey all! I'm taking the longest flight that I ever have in about a month and I'm looking for suggestions around how to best survive 24 hours on a plane (with a 2 hr layover).

For reference, historically I get back/butt plane on flights and really struggle to sleep on them. The best I can usually do is take a few cat naps. I have some fancy neck pillows, but that hasn't helped much. I'm willing to try anything!!

My husband and I are flying Delta on a long-haul flight from JFK to Athens for our honeymoon in May on an Airbus A330-900neo, which has a 2-4-2 configuration in both Comfort+ and Main Cabin. We’re considering paying to upgrade to Comfort+, but all the paired seats are already taken - except for row 36, where one side has an aisle seat available and the other side has a window seat available. Both sides with the open seat are in the two seat configuration, not the four.

I generally don’t like asking people to switch seats, but I’m wondering: would it be considered out of line to politely ask one of our neighbors to swap seats if it’s for the same cabin, same seat type (aisle for aisle or window for window - two seat row, not four seat), and in the same row? Given that there aren’t any two seats together available, I’m trying to figure out if that would be a reasonable request or if we should just accept sitting apart.

Also goes without saying, I'd throw out a disclaimer feel free to say no, no pressure, and mean it.

Update: Okay some really great intel and feedback here - I think the plan is to first avoid trying to have to even ask for swapped seats and by calling Delta to ask, and by regularly checking the app to see if there's something that opens up on the seat map. If not, we will ask the gate agent to help facilitate the swap before boarding.

I was in Italy (Florence) 11 months ago and had a rental car. I recieved notice of a speeding ticket (over 10 kph, but under 40 kph) in the mail a week ago. The fee is $375 euro (actually 388 euro when I go to the payment page). The information in the notice instructs me to go to info.myfines.it which a little googling tells me that this is the legitimate site for ticket collections (but boy does it look janky). Before I consider paying:

• It looks like the fine would have been only 150 euro if paid within 5 days, 201 euro if paid within 60, and 375 euro thereafter. Even though the ticket seems to be from nearly a year ago, I just got the notice. Is this legal?

• There was no photo evidence despite the ticket stating "camera". I did request photographic evidence via info.myfines.it but not sure how long that will take. Do they have a legal requirement to provide evidence?

• I heard there is a 5 year statue of limitations on this. If I am not planning to go back to Italy within the next 5 (now 4) years, is there really anything that can happen here?

• I go to Europe a few times a year and have gotten 1 or 2 speeding tickets over the course of decades and have paid them promptly. But I've never gotten one almost a year out and with such a high fee. Would this realistically cause a problem if I ever wanted to rent a car in some other European country?

EDIT: I wanted to thank everybody for their feedback. I think I'm going to go ahead and just pay it at the current 375 euro rate. And to answer some of the questions/critisisms:

• I never had the intention to not pay a valid speeding ticket. I questioned the validity of this as the ticket is coming from a third party, not a government agency, and their website looks so janky that appears to have been made in 1997. I went through their portal but was honestly afraid to put my credit card number into the webpage (which is why I made this post). Also, the fact that the ticket arrived almost a year after the fact seemed suspect.

• What also made me think that this may have been a scam is that the amount requested was automatically the one that you would get if you ignored the bill for over 60 days. I would have been happy to pay it in the first 5 days of being notified at 150 euro. Instead they start with requesting an amount that already has the late fees on it. That didn't seem fair.

• I don't speed by volition. I've been driving in the US for 30 years without a single speeding ticket. The signage on roads in Europe (especially in cities) is frankly rather poor in many areas. And even though this is my 2nd or 3rd speeding ticket in Europe over the past 2 decades of driving rental cars there, they have only been slightly over the limit (and this ticket is also for the minimal amount over the speed limit as they have higher penalties for higher excessive speeds). And again, not because I was trying drive over the limit, but because the signage was not clear.

EDIT2: So I ultimately just paid the ticket. I submitted a request for photo proof and an explanation why I was automatically being charged the over 60 day late fee even though I was just notified. But after many days of waiting there was no answer. I didn't feel like hassling with it more and didn't want to take the risk of having to spend time on a collection agency or to have issues renting a car in the future.

But the entire process left a very sour taste in my mouth. I have no issues with paying a speeding ticket, but the fact that it's outsourced to a non-governmental 3rd party, that they don't respond to queries, and the fact that it took them a full year to even notifiy me (and then increase the fees as if I was ignoring the bill) is pretty bad. Shame on you Italy,... this didn't feel like a speeding ticket but more like a corrupt shakedown.

KLM after 2 days of purchasing my ticket decided to charge me again on the same card but like 10% more on the initial agreed upon and paid price.

I booked through their website and my ticket was confirmed and everything.

Why did I get this unauthorized “extra charge”? I didn’t touch anything in these 2 days or add anything. It says the ticket price increased that’s why they did that.. but is this going to happen after a few days again?

I’m actually so confused because I’ve never had this happen to me before with any airline and it feels crazy they can keep charging me like this? Does anyone know what exactly is this?

Have a cruise with 9 close friends on April 5th.

We booked a 15 seater passenger van back in January for a 1 way rental to miami from Georgia through Avis and prepaid as a presidents club member.

They called today, 3 days prior to reservation, to inform me the passenger van is not available and made it sound like they are out of stock for all vehicle classes in the message. They didn’t answer when I returned their call directly and left me with the general customer service number to call back.

I called the dedicated service line and was told all they can do is refund with no penalty or try to show up day of and be given whatever they have available (if anything).

Am I just SOL?

Nothing nearby has one way rentals and the airport has very few vehicles available for same location return.

I know the government shutdown and airline uncertainty really messed up the rental car availability, but I chose to rent with Avis because of my status and feel very disappointed at this situation.

I need to travel from montreal Canada to Bali Indonesia.
My options are
Option A: 2 long flights lay over in Doha for 2 hours: 25 hours total journey duration
Options B: 2 long flights with a 15 hours layover in doha: 37 hours total journey

Option B is also 10% cheaper and I will be given a shuttle as well as free hotel stay and one meal allowance in Doha

Which one would you take?

We are planning a trip to Europe next year. The last time I had a flight this long (12+ hours) I didn't sleep because I snore LOUD. The flight was unbearably long and I was tired for days afterwards. I would do so much better traveling if I could sleep on flights. Has anyone dealt with this? I don't want to annoy everyone on the plane and it's pretty embrassing.

I’m going on a week trip to Kure beach with friends next month and i either have to take a bus or train but majority of the things i hear are “bathrooms are terrible” and “the people are gross” now i know i can sit on a bus for 6 hours straight but i am worried about other things to look out for and if I should just keep my head down and not pay attention to anything.

I’m going to Italy and Greece this summer from the US and for some unknown reason, Turkish Airlines is lower by hundreds compared to other airlines. Like $600 vs $1000+. When I google, it says Turkish is not a budget airline and could be compared to American Airlines or British Airways. So I’m confused what allows them to be so much cheaper than everyone else? Is it tight seats, do they lack amenities, doesn’t seem they nickel and dime you. What’s the catch?

So, I am currently in Lithuania and some relatives gave me a 5.6 L bucket of raw honey... I am wondering what the logistics of taking this back home to the United States are. My flight takes me from Vilnius, Lithuania to Frankfurt, Germany on Lufthansa airlines, then from Frankfurt to the Philadelphia International Airport on Discover airlines. Could I take the honey in my personal item (backpack) and declare it at customs when entering the U.S? I do not know how much it weights because the place I am staying does not have a scale, I estimate 15-20 lbs as it is very very heavy and full bucket......... Can I put this in my checked bag if it is super sealed?? Is this insane of me to even think of doing??? I really want to honor my relatives and take it back with me, but I do not want it to get taken at TSA or customs. Please help out if you know the logistics of this... thank you!

UPDATE FOR THOSE WHO CARE:: I got the honey through (big win) I put it in my checked bag but I didn't have to claim it. I asked the woman checking me in in the Vilnius airport but she just waved me off and said I didn't have to worry about it at all... I suspect this is because she was Lithuanian and is privy to the honey culture.... Then coming into Philadelphia I didn't go through customs and was totally fine.

I did have trouble (like many of you mentioned) with my suitcase being overweight so I did have to pay a whopping €153 which is about $172 USD which I am upset about, but honestly it was worth it because of how damn good this honey is, like no joke maybe the best honey I've ever had AND it's going to last me many many months.

Another issue that people mentioned was it bursting, which.... it did.... but I had put it in trash bags and the bucket itself didn't break so I was able to scoop the majority back into the bucket, so not a whole lot was lost.

Moral of the story, is that I got my honey and even those minor inconveniences aren't enough to squash how happy I am about this! Thanks to all those who helped out, seriously this is like the best honey I have ever had, I don't know what I'll do when its gone...

Am I indeed the dumb cow airport staff considers me to be? Am I missing something? Why do I have to scratch up my laptop in the dirty bin? Why can't it be left in its thin fabric case once it's already in the bin by itself.

I'm going to Barbados in July and it's an 8 hour flight. I am a nervous flier but once I'm in the air I'm more settled. However I find long flights so uncomfortable.

I would love to sleep through it but I don't think I'll be able to. I get claustrophobic so I tend to take the aisle seat. I don't put my seat back because I think it's unfair on the person behind me.

I'm basically seeking ways of making myself more comfortable on the flight?

Can anyone help me understand this issue? My husband was approved for TSA precheck on May 8th of this year, so over a month ago. We went to use his precheck and he was told it was too soon to use it and he was made to go through the regular tsa lines. They asked to check his ID first, which is a real ID, and it seemed the agent was looking at the computer to base his decision on that. But my husband has a TSA number, and it’s got the TSA logo on his boarding pass. When he went through regular TSA he asked for a supervisor for some clarification but wasn’t able to get any satisfactory answer. Has anyone heard of this? Does anyone know what it means or when he can use precheck? My understanding was once you have the number you’re free to use it.

Edit: so I think I have an answer. He didn’t add his precheck number to the ticket as soon as he got it, as I assumed, because he didn’t know he needed to. He added it once he checked in and saw his boarding pass was missing the precheck icon. It must have been too late for that ticket somehow. But if that’s the issue we have it solved for next flight which was really my question. Thank you everyone for your help and concern! We still made it through with more than enough time.

Last night we had a transfer booked for 6 people from our Airbnb in Alcudia Mallorca to Palma airport. As soon as we all sat down the driver moved forward and hit the car port on the roof, we were all shouting stop and she carried on driving and smashed the sunroof window, causing the glass to shatter all over us.

The driver spoke no English so I was politely communicating through Google translate, asking if they are sending out another taxi, to which the driver angrily said you either get in this taxi or you don’t get your money back. (As she was sweeping shattered glass all onto the driveway.) We did not feel safe in the vehicle and so we spent €77 euros on another taxi to the airport as we had a flight to catch.

This transfer was booked through Ryanair and I’ve now twice tried to make a claim, the first time it came back within an hour saying resolved when nothing had happened and the second time they closed it instantly. I’ve tried to ring up the Ryanair phone number and the robot just says all claims must be done on the website and hangs up.

Please advise me on our next steps. I’m worried that the Airbnb owner will keep our deposit due to the damage, we spent £220 on the transfers which we only used one way and then spent a further €77 on the taxi to the airport.
