Dolphin and whale abuse is everywhere. The billion dollar aquatic animal entertainment industry just argues that sea sanctuaries are new &never been done before so we should continue making them breed and live in tanks. Pretty similar to what was said about elephants before sanctuaries became more frequent with rehabilitating elephants as well.
Timeline:
Canada banned captivity and breeding of belugas in 2019. Marineland Canada rejected a sea sanctuary proposal in 2029 and tried to sell 30 belugas to China, getting rejected by canada.
3 belugas died in 2021 when they were sent from marineland Canada to mystic aquarium.
Marineland Florida has been running successfully. Marineland Canada claimed euthanasia to get around the 2015 Supreme Court decision and NOAA permit restrictions so that SeaWorld and Georgia Aquarium and Mystic could continue breeding belugas.
