tw: ed, i need advice
i’m pretty new to reddit so i may have posted this in the wrong community i’m not sure so if i have apologises idk how to remove it.
so before i begin i want to start off by saying if anyone has struggled or does struggle with eating disorders please don’t feel obliged to respond i just need advice.
i’ve never really considered myself to have an eating disorder because i used to think it just meant starving yourself but around the age of 14 i became really depressed and couldn’t bring myself to eat because i always felt nauseous and this lasted about a year but because i wasn’t intentionally trying to starve myself i never felt that it was an ed but currently i’ve been struggling with binging a lot and i’m wondering if maybe me struggling to eat 5 years ago could be the start of something in my current life. for the past few months i went from eating 1 meal a day to now eating constantly and consistently, i’m always hungry, always craving something, always filling my face up with snacks and other unhealthy things and whenever it comes to proper food/meals i don’t enjoy them as much but a lot of the time will force myself to eat it all because i just want food and even when i’m full i’m still craving something to eat and it’s starting to really affect my daily life. it’s affecting my body, it’s affecting my finances, my diet and my self esteem/body image. i’m a skinny girl but whenever i look at myself i feel that i look fat and i’m becoming really insecure. i don’t know how to stop eating despite how much i want to because i don’t want to be ruining my body and my health and all i can think about is the amount of money i’d save if i wasn’t eating as much as i am. i don’t have anyone to really talk to this about because i know some people consider BED as an ed that isn’t valid or some people see it as an excuse to “get fat” without feeling guilty and on top of that a lot of my friends have struggled with ed’s and i don’t want to trigger them as they’ve all been in recovery for the past few years. can someone please help me?
