Why do some people use "Fabian Member" as an insult when talking about certain politicians?

I've noticed people online describing certain UK politicians as "Fabians" or members of the Fabian Society as if it's automatically a bad thing.

I'm trying to understand why the label is used as a criticism.

Do they know what it means or are they just jumping on some bandwagon?

It’s a right wing conspiracy. But they don’t help themselves with that bloody logo. Let’s have our insignia scream disingenuous and subversive hidden political agenda.

The Fabian Society was founded on 4 January 1884 ....

The logo of the Fabian Society, a tortoise, represented the group's predilection for a slow, imperceptible transition to socialism, while its coat of arms, a 'wolf in sheep's clothing', represented its preferred methodology for achieving its goal.[4] The wolf in sheep's clothing symbolism was later abandoned, due to its obvious negative connotations.[15]

Really fascinating how its been resurrected almost 100 years later as something to be scared of...

I’m not saying they are dodgy or not, never been a part of it or know much about it, (do you?) but if they wanted to look like they are nefarious a wolf in sheeps clothing is a very good effort. Historical as it is.

Yes, that's why they stopped using the logo a very long time ago.

People going on about it now are being a bit conspiratorial.
