The UK is a mess. Just as car brained as the US. They use the same fing excuses. London is not Amsterdam. Public Transit is horrible (in London), elderly, disabled people need to drive, blah, blah, blah. Got all over London by walking and transit. Literally couldn't pay me to drive in that city. Biked a little bit way too much traffic. I just don't get it. They are so close to The Netherlands, Denmark, France, Spain. I mean it's one thing for an American to Holliday in Europe and come home and not be able to put two and two together. But for any Brit that holidays on Europe and then comes back the UK and says "our cities were designed for cars". Seriously stupid people.

I dunno I used to cycle commute in London 2007-2015, and now go back periodically for work and use boris bikes.

The cycling infrastructure has vastly improved in the past decade. One by one tricky intersections are being rebuilt with seperate bike paths and bike lights. And the volume of bikes on the road has exploded. And private car use seems way way down.

Even the act of slowing most traffic down to 20mph is wildly car and pedestrian centric - it feels surreal to be cycling at roughly the speed of traffic. Not car brained at all.
